Default Trouble finding parts for an '05 2.5 RS

Hi all -
I just bought an 05 2.5 RS and I'm looking to putting a little money into it... The only problem is, vendors don't seem to be listing parts for 2005 yet. Does anyone know what parts will fit my car? In what ways is it identical to earlier models? Specifically, I'm looking at installing a CAI, rear sway bar, rear (maybe front, too) strut brace, and maybe a cat-back exhaust later on. Any 05 owners out there had any luck, or know what will work for my car?

cheers

CAI is different, the 05's are MAF cars. The exhaust is the same as the 02-04 models.

For a CAI, I think since its MAF, you can do the cone filter + MAF adapter like alot of the older model MAF impreza owners do (me included). I'm not sure if the 05 has a fender snorkel either, but if it does that would also be a good place to start. The 05 also has a new style intake manifold, which will make compatibility a bit different (although it is a much better design)

For suspension parts, look for 05 WRX parts (minus the front swaybar).

Not correct Kostamojen is right, 05's are MAF based again, why... we're not sure.

As for suspension = 04+ Springs work, 02+ Struts Work, 02+ Rear Swaybars fit, 02+ Strut Tower braces work

Don't bother with the front swaybar, the stock is 20mm anyway.

I'm going to be checking out and doing some test fits for CAI intake kits on my friends 2005 Impreza RS Sedan tomorrow evening, i'll get back to you.

I measured the distance between the MAF bolts on the 2005 RS, it's 9mm X 5mm, which is the same as the 93-99 Impreza.

The distance of the throttle body to the spot the MAF is located is about the same as the 93-99 Imprezas and the MAF has a 3" round inlet that would connect to an intake with a silicone sleeve.

Option 1. Kartboy MAF Filter Adaptor + K&N Panel Filter
Option 2. E-bay MAF Filter replicas / K&N replica Filter
Option 3. Generic Intakes from e-bay. I'm not sure if Cobb Makes a 93-99 Intake, so I'm not going to suggest it.

Find someone in your area with a modded 93-99, see if you can just do a quick test fit.

The only thing I didn't look for was an IAT sensor like the 03/04 NA Imprezas have. Wish I could be of more help, but the setup looks very similar to the older engines, just a very nice new Intake manifold.

I got an email from Cobb Good to know one is currently in development!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Derek,

Unfortunately the 2005 CAI requires a redesign from the 99 version. Once Josh has completed the development of the new intake, we will make an announcement on the www.cobbtuning.com homepage.

Cheers,
Justin

NO I URGE YOU NOT TO GET A Cold Air Intake for you 05 2.5rs. I Just bought an AEM air intake for my car and the mounts are off. I'm tryin to get it to work. Im going today to check and see if subaru sells a mount, cause the problem is that the intake pipe as an extention where the pipe is to mount on another mount that is in the engine bay, the difference between 04 and 05 is that the 05 doesn't have that mount that the 04 does. but Im gonna go down to subaru and see if they could get it, if it works then ill tell you to get it. I also got an Injen intake for my 05 2.5rs that was origanlly made for a 99 rs but it didn't fit either again the mounting spots were wrong and the pipe was too short.

Yeah i bought the 02-04 AEM cold air intake, and i need to see if subaru has some extra mounts. cause the main problem with it is that the pipe has no where to mount.

Thats pretty much the case with any cold air intake for the Impreza, there are no mounting spots, thats why most of us just fab something out. The only one that is really stable is the Cobb and that's only because it has a solid filter going into the fender.

I've already told you the current options, all you have to do is decide which one, then become our guinea pig to see if the 2005 MAF's are as delicate and picky as the 1999's were (broke like it was their primary function)
