Cool SMACKDOWN at Buttonwillow

Hello,

Super cross post - but check out the thread with the same subject as this one in the general forum. I replied to Byron's streetrace challenge by a challenge to race at Buttonwillow. Shiv's already replied that he'll be there... Where are YOU going to be June 10-11???

Joel

Okay, I'm signed up.
www.open-track.com and click on register. It's $140 for one day (you can do either Sat or Sun), or $210 for both days. You need to either get a one-day NASA membership ($5) or a year-long membership ($30) unless you are a member already.

The total comes out to $145 - $240 (mine was $240).

Hey Joel,

I do NASA/open track events every month. While I 100% revel in open track days and the close competition that results, I believe it is potentially quite unsafe to really race people in unprepared (no cage/halon) cars.

Please understand that I'm not calling bull***** on your and Shiv's endeavor, I know you are both hot shoes and very good drivers, I just wouldn't get lulled into a dicey situation to prove a point with someone who seems to be a bit of a BS artist.

Not that either of you seem to ever be lulled into dumb stuff...you know what I mean...

Just keep the guy from diving across your doors when y'all go by

Hello,

Yeah, Shiv and I talked about that. What I hope to have happen over the next 2 months is that everyone's tempers and egos flare down and everyone becomes more reasonable. Then, when the time comes, it'll just be a blast of a scooby event. I'm more interested in driving and I was actually planning on going to buttonwillow before the whole Byron thing came up. I'm game for just a fun driving NASA event Anyway, what's the chance that he shows up? I mean, really? And if he doesn, I don't think he's that stupid. We'll lay down the rules and I'll be the first to go point out anyone acting like a prick to the officials there. I personally don't want to risk injury or even damage to cars.

So you are correct, Angus, we should and we will make sure that this just becomes a race against the clock and not a competative event in the dangerous sense of the word.
