Default NY: Looking For A Winter Beater

Possibly looking to buy a winter beater. Not looking to spend more than $1k, so it may end up being a pos, but i really don't want to be driving my WRX in the winter. I'd prefer a Subaru, but I'm open to anything. Looking to buy in NY state. Thanks.

Moss has a Civic that he's trying to sell as well. Do a search for his name, he's started a couple of threads in the past for this car.

how far upstate are you?

I have a 91 Cavalier auto, one dent, can be popped out probably. New all season kuhmos. Leaks some oil but thats about it, interior shows some wear, but overall not a bad lookin car. New water pump, brakes are good. makes a grinding noise on hard right turns, might need an axle. Perfect beater, I drive it every day back and forth to work. 97k on it I think...there is a thread somewhere with pics..
