Default 05 Ride height vs older models

Are the 05s lifted a bit more than the older Bajas? If so, how did Subaru do it. I would like to be able to get a little more lift for my 2003, but I don't really want to have to go for a Scorpion lift if there is another way.

Thanks,
Perry

I think the '04 and '05s were lifted to 8.4" from 7.4".

I am not sure how this was accomodated (springs, spindles, etc.). If you could find a donor '04 or '05 (say in junk yard), I'd swap the entire suspension to carry the factory suspension geometry over. If you are looking to buy just the specific parts to make the coversion OTC, I'd still think it would be cheaper to go aftermarket... Of course, I could be wrong.

Hey,

I was wondering the same thing. When I went to my dealer, the parts guy said he didn't know. I tried to order the springs, but he said they were the same as the '03s. I was looking at my friends turbo baja, and noticed the bushings appear to be different(bigger?). I was going to look into them next time I go to teh dealer. But if you find out, or anyone has the correct info on teh factory lift, please let us know.

Frank X.

Default SOA no help so far

I have been badgering SOA to tell me what the changes were, but so far I have gotten no answer, other than the annoying boiler plate that is more concerned with avoiding any percieved liability than answering a direct question.

Anyone else care to send them some emails to bring the heat?

;-)

The body spacers are taller and maybe the strut tops.I use to have an 03 and i've looked at the spacing of the body, and on my 04 the spacers look taller than the 0nes on the 03.You might want to check if the strut tops are the same to.

The 05 BAJA Turbo is lifted about an inch more then the 05 BAJA Sport.
The 05 BAJA Sports may be the same hight as the older Bajas?

Wrong. All '04 & '05 Bajas were lifted 1" over the '03 Baja.

Default So, its just a body lift?

So, if it is the spacers and the struts, then is is a body lift only?

Are the tires the same size? Is there no greater ground clearance?

A bit more ground clearance is what I really need.

Default A new question -

Since I don't really know about this stuff, let me just throw this out there for comment.

If I were to buy Scorpion springs, which would take away some suspension travel, and then get the taller strut tops from Subaru, would restore some/all of the suspension travel scrificed to the spring lift?

Just wondering. Thanks

Perry

I think you would still have the suspension stiffness with the scorpion springs even if you changed the tops because your not spacing the whole suspension system.I thought about getting the springs and just put in the rears for more weight loading and less sagging in the rear.

I remember reading something in a review somewhere about how they rerouted the exhaust to help with the ground clearance numbers.

Default Scorpion Springs

Are the Scorpion Springs still available? I have been surfing around and I only find them as part of a bigger kit, which I don't want.

Who sells them?

its definitely and defintily not the exhaust, you can visibly see the ride height is higher, more wheel gap!

im trying to find out the answer to this question....it MAY be a body lift...thats my suspicion.
