Question Dealer search

I'm looking to buy an RS in the next month or so. Has anyone gone through the dealers around my area with their car purchasing? I live in Hayward--so I'm looking into Steven's Creek, Oakland, Redwood City, and Livermore Subaru Dealers. Let me know if you would recommend one over another. Thanks a bunch.

I agree with the thumbs down for Steven's Creek Subaru. Those guys were real jerks. I bought my 2.5RS 2 weeks ago, and I went into that dealership to check it out and there were 5 salesman standing at the main entrance. You couldn't get in there without them instantly jumping on your back pressuring you to buy something that very second. Very rude and very annoying. I'll never step foot over there again.

However, I would have to disagree with the thumbs down on Carlsen Subaru in Redwood City. Those guys were great. I walked around the lot for a good five minutes before anyone came up and talked with me. They could tell I was looking around, so they waited until I had that "You can come talk to me now" look to approach me. I asked for a test drive, and I was allowed to take a red 2.5RS Coupe out for a spin...by myself!!! That's right, no salesman in the car. He just told me to go down a couple blocks, get on the freeway and park it back where it was. That was the best test drive I ever went on. No pressure while you're fiddling around in the car and no one to tell you to slow down. That test drive hooked me on the 2.5RS and later that day I negotiated a price and purchased a silver 2.5 RS Sedan. BTW, their price was quite fair as well. They were only $100 more than Carorder.com which was the cheapest price I could find for a RS. I felt that $100 was money well spent if they operate their dealership in that manner. Definite thumbs up for Carlsen from me.

have you tried www.carorder.com? Thats where I'm getting my RS from...should be at the dealers in 2 days...and then the paperwork starts and I'll have my car at my house in a week or 2...the whole process for me is about 1 month...not too bad since they didn't have any RS around here that suited my needs...plus my grand total (after taxes/fees) comes to only 20,217 and I didn't have to negotiate...

Thumbs up

Carlson is a great dealer. Sev had a few bad experiences, so his view point is a bit skewed.(sorry sev, i have had nothing but GREAT sevice from them).

I live in the East Bay, so I go to Livermore or Diablo. Diablo sales os OK, and I really like Livermore. Both have great service departments, although my favorite mechanic just left Diablo. Albany isn't so bad either.

In all honesty, carorder.com will get you the best deal. I think I am going to get my wife a 01 Legacy GT when the new 3.0 six comes out. There prices are well below retail.

Santa Cruz Subaru has great service as well! u might want to check with Sandy the fleet manager over there.
its better if u exclude the factory premium sound and keyless entry package cuz its not worth the money. i got my car for 20k outta door. good luck to ya.

Cool

Call Bryan Howard at Stevens Creek Subaru. He took care of me, gave me a great deal and busted his ass and got my car from another dealer in 1 day.

I just bought my 2000 RS Coupe from Diablo Subaru and got a damn good deal on the car. My salesman was named Moe and he was a hell of a lot of fun to hang out with. We had a blast test driving the car up and down Pleasant Hill Road!

As far as the deal went, it was top notch. No bull-donkey. We talked numbers and it was over in a flash. If you are in the East Bay talk to him and say "Neil" sent you, he should be able to make a good deal. If you have any questions about the place e-mail me, I would be glad to help!

I love my Subaru, took the snorkle off today. Love that sound!

I had a great experience buying from Santa Cruz. Sandy
is a really nice and straight forward kind of guy. Another
thing about the people down there is that they enjoy
their work. Finding people who actually enjoy going to
work can be hard these days. One more thing, there service
department is top notch. The bonus is they give free
oil/filter changes for 60k. Oh, yeah and I get to drive
HW17. I will be there this Friday for my 15k service.
The 15k service calls for balancing and an alignment.

I also purchased my MY00 Blue Ridge Pearl from Carlsen/Redwood City. They had the car I was looking for....with only 1 option that I did not want (CD Player) No haggle on price...only 2.5% over dealer invoice. They have gone way out of their way to help me.....I also got a TRUE carbon fiber dash kit thru them.....by the way.....SEV did you call that number I gave U???

I liked Livermore...but they did not have ANY RS Coupes at the time I visited them...but they were very helpful and honest.

Thanks for all the help everyone. Although id like to go through Diablo, I'll probably try going through the Red Wood City dealer since it seems for the most part to have a good reputation and its closer than the others. I may end up being forced to go through Stevens Creek though. Out of all the dealers I've talked to, theyre the only ones who claim they can finance me(Im 19, and have exactly 0 credit and no co-signer.) It doesnt matter though. Im getting the RS and that's all there is to it.

Case closed and thanks again.

I stopped by Carlsen Subaru on Saturday. They have a silver RS on the lot. Hopefully they'll have some good news for me in the next day or two. That being, that I have been approved for financing. If my financing goes through, the car will be mine in two weeks. Yes.... yes.... i love it.....
