Default 04 STi Wagon Springs and Tophats on 02 Wagon

I have heard the only difference between 04 and 02 suspension are the mounts so I was hopeing to get the 04 STi springs and tophats which are wagon specific and put them on my 02 wagon. Anyone running these tophats and springs on their wagon 02 or 04?
Wagon Specialist and Gurus please help.

heres the actuall items Ive been looking at:

Only the rear strut top/spring design was changed for 04. Your 02 fronts will work fine, though a set of Group N tops will add stiffness and control. But, the Pink wagon springs at 223/192 are too stiff for your stock struts. I would NOT do this without upgrading struts as well.

I was under the impression that the pink springs were designed to work with stock struts. But now it sounds like they were designed to work with the STi struts, is this correct?

Actually this is a bit of a mystery. We have these new 04 WRX uprated springs with rather stiff rates (compared to oem) 223/195. I agree these are too stiff to be running w/ oem struts (even the 04's which were revalved).

So this begs the question what were the springs designed around. My guess (just a guess at this time) as these were designed around the revision 9 05 JDM WRX's- they sport a entirely new designed inverted strut. Another guess is that these new struts will sport larger pistons and more damping. If true these could be the struts that these springs were designed around.

Mind you there has been no STi wagon since the last v7 one, and the rear springs are wagon specific (the fronts are identical sedan or wagon), so it's not likle these were designed around a STi wagon.

The other thing to consider is the top of the rear struts v7 vs v8 are different, it's not a huge difference, but impacts how the new rear tops fit on the struts.

I'm currently running the v7 STi wagon setup on my 04- using v7 tops in the rear. I picked up a set of these springs as the rates would favorably mate well w/ the damping in the STi struts IMO. It appears that a shop could pretty easily machine the top of the rear struts to replicate the v8 ones- would require a slightly longer threaded portion and rounding the lower edge (vs the square edge on the v7 ones). There have been several folks simply swap out tops, but personally feel that could lead to problems down the line.

IF SOA (or FHI) had a good pulse on things here, they would offer WRX sedan and wagon specific struts to go w/ these springs.

I am using these springs with a set of JDM v8 STi sedan struts. You could also use them with a set of USDM STi takeoff struts. The only problem is, you must run camber plates in the front in order to get a decent amount of negative camber. The camber plate will negate any drop you would normally get from these springs. My car sits at around stock ride height in the front and around .5" lower in the rear. I'm using Noltec camber/caster plates with camber bolts from Oakos in the front. -1.7 camber in front, -0.8 camber in the rear.
