Question Is the transmission fluid checked from underneath the car?

Or is there a dipstick under the hood?

It is checked from under the hood, if you are facing your car (the front) it is on the left side of the tranny under all that intake crap. It is a little yellow dipstick

Funny you should mention that. I was under the hood poking around yesterday and looked at the passanger side tranny axel seal. It looks like it threw out some fluid. I can see oil stains on the cross member and such. I pulled the dipstick (just above the seal) and it was just about registering on the stick I just turned 30K the other day so I plan on making an appointment to have it looked at. Anyone else have this happen?
