Default Exhaust Rattle

I have been hearing a rattle from my cat area of my exhaust. I have Borla Headers--Stromung Hi-Flow Cat -- Stromung Mid-Pipe, Stromung Dual tip Muffler.. I tried moving the heatsheilds around but I still get the rattle. I put my car on my ramps and rev'd the engine and it sounds like it's coming from inside the cat.. Anyone have any issues like this with their Stromung Cat?

Maybe a rock got inside one of the heatshields.

Everyone always jumps to explain that rattle is usually heatshields not being tightened. There is a nice post here about the borla headers creating nasty vibration at certain rpm levels (Don't know the specifics off-hand. I wanna say between 1500-2000 rpm?) Those are just the top one's outta my head. I too have borla headers (v3) and they create some rattle.

first get kartboy hangers which are stiffer so that knocks out the exhaust, after that id be the cat and theres not much you can do

just go back and tighten everything up

I would most likely say it is the borlas causing the rattle of your cat. It did the same thing to my old L at a certain RPM.

well i do have the kartboy's installed. I dont know what gen of borla's i have or how to tell. But if they are causing the rattle where is the rattle coming from? the rattle is from 2500k to 2000k rpm and you can hear it slightly on acceleration but mostly on decel. I did notice a small leak on one of the welds of my cat there's a small buildup of black soot coming out, that's what makes me think it could be the cat. But I will research about the borla rattle some more.. I got under my car and rev'd the engine and didnt see any large movement from the exahust. and hear the rattle on high rev's and it comes from the cat area. the bolts on my headers and cat are torqued to 28ft lbs and 26ft lbs..
