Question Borla Exhaust

Hey Folks....

Where can I get the cheapest price on the Borla Exhaust? I'm looking for both the header and the cat-back system.

Thanks!

I've found the cat back at http://www.spomotorsports.com/Catego...tomerID=106027 for $365.00 and the Header for $475.00. I'm seriously thinking of getting this exhaust setup, the cat back first and then the header but I don't know if I want this, brospeed, N1 by JCSports, Stromung, or the one from http://www.Rallispec.com.

LUME - if you plan on going turbo at some point, you'll waste your money going with the Borla now... it's only 2" OD, marginally larger piping than the factory system

roy,
SPO seems to be the place to get it. the guy there seemed cool and he knew his stuff. i'll prolly get mine from there soon. even though the mid-pipe is only 2"(perfect for NA cars) it can easily be replaced w/ a larger one if u go turbo in the future.

I've been giving thought to getting this as well, but am un-sure of how loud it is. I want something just a 'little' louder than stock, but with a deep tone and nothing intrusive on long drives (i drive highway a lot). I really want performance gains as well, and from what im seeing it gives a tad more power, but it gives the power through the whole powerband, and stops that bog you feel at low RPMs (right when you start accellerating)

I was looking at the borla 'cause it's 2" so i figure it wont be much louder than stock. is that right?

just wanted to ask.

The Borla system isn't bad, but it's not the best necessarily. If you have more mods or plan to go turbo, all the piping from the midpipe as well as the B-pipe (before the muffler itself) are all 2"OD. If you have 2.2L that'd be "ok", but it's recommended to go with 2.25"ID piping for maximal gains in performance.

You may want to look into these systems at the following link :

According to "Sport Compact Car" the stromung system is the best. It also sounds very mello and deep.(not hondaish at all) I ordered that yesterday from Cobb tuning. You should call and ask them and see what they say. Cobb tuning rules!

Yeah, im not planning on going turbo for AT least 2 years, but i probobly won't ever go turbo, just buy a faster car =) (WRX STi, maybe.. when it comes out) and trade this one.

I dont have all that much $$ now either, and borla seems like a good deal, is there any better 'bang for the buck' exhausts..?

also, the noise thing as well, some people LOVE the sound, and ive also seen some posts that say it's too loud so im very lost =).

EDIT: Just so you know, i have a MY00 2.5 RS, no mods as of yet.

The 2" diameter of the Borla exhaust piping will garauntee however that you lose very little low end torque. I am getting the Borla exhaust as well. $365 is a great price!

Hi there:
Im from puerto Rico and recently made the deal with Kara from SPO Motorsports. I ordered the cat back system and i can tell u is great. Nice quality, all stainless steel and very light compared to the OEM system. About noise, well, is not all that noisy but intrusive enough for me so i added to the system a resonator . Now its really great, and combined with the Ganzflow and the KN the car just wants more road, the 5,000 5,500 rpms are so easy to reach...
The only problem i had was with the hangers, cause the mandrel bend of the cat back is some kind of tilted, so the rear section falls from the \hanger of the left side. I solved it with 25cents. Just welded a washer to each extreme of the pipe hanger and Voila!!!
Im very pleased with the system and the service that SPO gave me. And the looks of the pipe are awesome!!

I GOT THE BORLA SYSTEM FROM SPO, GREAT GUY! THE MUFFLER ISNT THAT LOUD BY ITSELF, BUT THE HEADER TRIPLED THE VOLUME! VERY DEEP SOUND THOUGH! SOUNDS LIKE A 5.0 MUSTANG COMING OFF THE LINE FROM INSIDE THE CAR!! VERY PLEASED WITH IT!

Question

Kingtut R-S,
What type of resonator did you use? Is it stainless? Where did you get it and who installed it? Sorry for all the questions, but I've been wanting to get a resonator on my Borla system for months. I just haven't found any good local places to get it done.

if you ask me i think the stromung is junk...the sound is nice but overall the quality just isn't there..i've seen what happens in one winter to em and they are rusted to all hell (stainless). IMHO i think your better going with a universal muffler and custom piping...probably be cheaper

My resonator is a universal type that i bought at pepboys. Is a 2" resonator, mild steel and cheap but does the work very good. One thing i tried was to intall the resonator as it is instructed with the inlet and the oulet on the right position.Still the car sounded loud, so my myffler shop unweld it and weld it again but in oposite directions, the inlet to the oulet and the outlet to the inlet. Nice sound!!
It works for me, and it was just 40 dolars including resonator and install.
