It's all about the EZ pass.. dunno if it's cheaper, but at least you don't have to wait in line.

yeah, it was free to day, than at Midnight all passenger vehicles will be $2.00 no matter where it goes in the state. Can drive from Pittsburgh to Philly, and its $2.00. I drive a commercial vehicle and my rates will jump from $3.25 to $15.00, because people are stupid.

I've been saying that for years
actually, I've heard they wrapped up some of the construction on the t-pike (which was the excuse they gave to raise the rates a few months ago). haven't driven it lately, but i hear it's not that bad. I almost drove to my parents house just to do it for free...but again, it'll be a $2.00 flat rate (after midnight) until the workers come back. If you have an e-z pass and the standard toll is less than $2, they charge the lesser of the two.

I had to laugh when they walked to today - the estimate loss in revenue is in the millions.

Yeah, since they've finally finished the construction between Pittsburgh and Greensburg, the turnpike is awesome along that stretch. Right now it's the only stretch of road in western PA that does not have any potholes.

Now if they would just complete the "eternal" construction between New Stanton and Donegal! That curvy section is outright scary to drive on during the construction with those narrow lanes and big trucks.

my one boss said he just traveled from donegal to monroeville and it was all open.
but i totally agree that stretch was/is bad. the only one i hated more was between bedford and somerset - over memoral day i drove it, the right lane was totally sloped and uneven and traffic was moving at like 75-80mph - including some rigs.
