Question 0 to 60 times for 2.5RS? (Re-asked)

The search option won't spit out an answer....so I have to resort asking you all.

For those who have gotten time runs on their RS's....

What is the average 0 to 60MPH times for a N/A 2.5RS.

I was able to do a 8.5 sec run (not great, as I was babying the clutch, and limmited the launch...NO Hi-RPM Dumps) but want to compare this to what others have been able to get. I know that the WRX can get 4.8 second times.

Only mods (so far)
iSR Intake
NGK Iridium Plugs
Custom 2.25" Cat-Back Exhaust
Whiteline Suspension (ALK, SwayB, EndLks, Strt Brc, ect...)
Clutch/Flywheel (STOCK)
Stock Tires/Wheels (YES....... RE92's)

I'm installing a JUN Lightened Flywheel and ACT clutch next week and would like to compare.

Any input would be appriciated.

Thanks

EddyL.

you should be getting MUCH better than that. should be in the mid 7's for you. hell even i get 9.7 repeatedly out of my car, stock, 110hp, with 3000rpm launch, with FWD, with bald front tires, and really, really bad gearing.
mag reference, SCC got 7.7 0-60 for the RS

Did SCC run a stock RS?

--edit--

I havent taken it to the Drag strip yet and I dont have a g-tech...I feel as if my subie pulls 7s or close to em...Its as fast as my first car I owned ('89 325i)...

My car is not stock tho...
*Apex'i N1 custom 2.25" cat back
*Ganzflow exhaust
*Underdrive pulley <--helps 3rd gear ALOT!
*Toyo proxes T1-S 205/50/16 <--not much of a mod, but the 50% profile is smaller than the 55% of the RE-92

Now its time for a better suspension

I know my friend's '99RS gets roughly 9.7sec consistantly. His is mostly stock other than Stromung muffler. That's not a track test, just a passenger (me, 170lbs.) with a stop watch leanign over and watching till the needle hits 60 so could be a little off , but not too much. I guess you should take into account my fat-ass being in the car. Hope this helps.

You have to launch like a rocket to get a really really really good time...

One thing to keep in mind, concerning 0-60 times is that with every 1000 ft. in elevation gain above sea level you lose about 3% of your power. Here in Colorado I'm at about 5300 ft. so my actual h.p. is probably around 138, and my 0-60 times have been about 10.5 seconds. However, my car is still totally stock and I did the tests before I'd really gotten used to the clutch, so they may be lower now.

A carefully used gtechpro spits out pretty consistent high 6s - low 7s for me. Generally they are a bit optimistic, but I haven't been to the dragstrip. I launched around 4k with a slight slip of the clutch and I didn't bang in 2nd or 3rd.

my mods

I don't really care, truth be told. I like how the car performs, don't profess to be a stoplight king, and am fully confident in the knowledge many faster cars share the streets with me.

As my friend above stated (outatsea). We've done tests on relatively flat ground with a stop watch. I assume some error but were getting relatively consistant 9.7's in my 99rs auto. But thats 2 people in the car and a spare tire and full gas...

Hope to lower it in the future but for now thats my time.

If you have cams you would probably get better times by upping your redline, and shifting alot faster.

I was getting a consistant 8.4 to 8.5 second times.......

That was from a GTecPro.
2 Passengers (425lbs)
Spare tire,
full tank of gas,
and about 30lbs of junk in the trunk.

Altitude was about 50ft ASL.
Temp was about 90deg. 30% humitity.
Slight breeze (none affecting)

I am sure that I could have gotten into the 7ish, maybe hi 6ish times IF I was the sole passenger and only a qtr tank of gas. (= about 500lbs less)

I should be able to make hi 6sec times easy once I get my Jun flywheel and ACT clutch installed. What do you think?

Thanks for input

Cheers

With my G-Tec I'm getting just a tic under 7 seconds on a good launch. Like 6.95, 6.97. Not stock my mods are somewhere in my profile I think.

Hey EddyRS, I hate to break it to you, but you are dreaming if you think you can shave off a second and a half by just having less gas and one less passenger. I have tried different runs with a full tank of gas and runs with the fuel light coming on and the times were nearly identical. My car has a JC intake, UD pulley, Borla header, and a free flow muffler and I am really lucky if I go under seven seconds. I think that has happened maybe twice. I have tried 100 octane racing fuel also, but with limited results. If I were you I would not get a clutch and flywheel, but instead some cams. The cams will be a hell of a lot cheaper and provide a lot more bang for the buck. My two cents.

I got about 7.5 to 7.8 with 130 pound passenger, 3/4 tank of gas, and an auto power braking till about 2k. If I get rid of the passenger and launch as high as it will go, I'm sure it will be pretty quick. I have a Stromung muffler only and a Ganzflow intake. I shifted manually and had my passenger video tape the speedometer. Took it home and started timing when the camera got thrown back and stopped timing at 60.

I'm getting the flywheel and Clutch installed because of warrenty work. I do not want to get cams for N/A, as I plan on Turbo'n the engine in the near future.

In Fact I plan on getting another engine and Turboing that, keeping this one completely stock for SMOG/CARB certification (swapping engines every 2 years).....damn California DMV.

I really do not know what times I would get if I beat the hell out of the tranny/clutch and do 5k dumps.....but I care for my suby enough not to try. By the way, my clutch is already slipping really good with only 12,000 miles.

Cheers

Uh, running hard with the fuel light on isn't a good idea. I'm not sure, but I think most good drag racers (dont ask me, I don't drag) don't run on almost empty.

Even if they do, it's not healthy for the fuel pump.

My00 RS is not a daily driver, only a Play toy. I have a work truck that I take home every day, and for long trips we use our 00 Honda civic (better gas milage)

So I plan on building my Suby for use as a Weekend Racer.

Cheers
