Question v6 Mustang vs Impreza 2.5 RS

More preticularly a 96 v6 Stang vs a 2000 Impreza 2.5 RS. Obvously the mustang would get raped in the corners, but what about strait line performance? The stang has more torque, but the impreza has more hp and weighs a bit less. I just moved to the mountians and need to trade the stang for something a little more snow worthy.

The Impreza will be more snow worthy provided the tires are up to par.
I would guess that a V6 Mustang and a 2.5RS would accelerate pretty much so the same in a straight line. Like iamrazor said "apples vs. oranges".

if you need something more snowworthy, the RS is going to be IN it's element, where as the stang will be... well... not.

The V6 mustang is SLOW SLOW SLOW. I raced them at the local 1/8th when my car was all stock. The v6 mustang had complete race headers cat back and CAI and still was pulling 1/8th mile times in the 11+ second range. Let me just tell you that MY02RS was pulling down 10,21 Times. and yes I have the time slips to prove it. as for having a top end guess what v6 mustangs don't....

yeah, the 94-98 v6's came with a whopping 150hp and 205tq from a 3.8L. The manuals ran the 1/4 in the low-mid 16's. The auto/vert would run mi-high 17's. And "rape it in the croners" does not begin to describe the beating the Mustang would take. I had a 2000 v6 mustang (190 hp 225tq) 5 speed and it would run mid 15's if driven impeccably; it supposedly had a better suspension too. But even then, that thing had more roll than a barrell in a river, and my moms impala would outhandle it on a twisty road and give it a run on the straights.

CN: lol @ 96 v6 Mustang

If I were going up and down snow covered mountains, I'd be much more inclined to have a subaru as opposed to the mustang

No kidding. A buddie of mine used to just leave his 5.0 stang at work if it started snowing and walk / bus it home.

An ex of mine had a fox body 6 that she would try and drive anywhere. Operative word being try. Even with decent tires, once it hit snow, that car was all over the place. On several occation she slid into the oncomming traffic lane trying to go up hills with any grade to them. A few times she had to have other cars stop for her. She nearly ran one person off the road.

V6 mustangs are not performance cars. They are for major posers.

2.5 RS' are not drag cars......BUT they would still win at the strip vs a V6 mustang.

v6 mustangs are a joke. A friend of mine had a red auto(doesn't every one have a friend who owns a red auto mustang?) and on a daily basis I would own him leaving from work to get onto the express ramp home. At the time I was rollin a 02rs auto with intake and chip on heavy 17s.

dude. i got a 4dr slushboxd NA ej22 a couple very basic mods. the main being the intake. i smoked one on my way to work last week.

obviously my cars not "stock" stock, but the stats are as follows:

2.5 RS 0-60 in 8.2 seconds 1/4 mile in 16.3 seconds
ej22 0-60 in 9.6 seconds 1/4 mile in 17.3 seconds
stang 0-60 in 8.6 seconds 1/4 mile in 16.5 seconds

add about 1/2 a second for conditions. my car ran 17.79 stock, 1/2 sec off.

I have raced V6 stangs at the drag strip and they are extremely slow.

I raced one and beat the guy, not even knowing I was racing him. Just decided to briskly accelerate at a light, once, and apparently the guy next to me was trying pretty hard. Heh.

I say he must've been an awful driver, in that case. But no, the V6 models aren't anything worth writing to Mother about.

Well a 96 3.8 V6 Mustang is pushing about 140 horsepower in the best case, the 98 they upped the power to 190 and a 5 speed car got pretty competative (straight line).

I would say if the 96 is a 5-speed you will still be ahead of it the whole time. Then again, there are some supercharged built 3.8's but they are FAR and FEW between, hehe.

Dont worry, you will smoke him.

I got *SMOKED* by a Mustang GT. It wasn't even funny. I might as well have hit the brakes instead of the gas pedal for the speed he passed me by. This was from 80MPH in 5th. Granted, it could've been modified, but I don't think there is anything I could do to my car short of a really agressive turbo setup or nitrous (or both) that would make it that fast.

Man are they slow. I would routinely waste both v6 mustangs and camaros in my 16v gti. It's probably putting out about 140hp, but it doesn't weigh much... I would think that an RS wouldn't have any trouble at all.

The best was when I smoked some guy off the line in his brand new mustang, he wouldn't even look over at me at the next light

And yes, a GT will show you its taillights, quickly...
