Thumbs up MBNA Subaru Mastercard

I already had an MBNA Visa card and happened to pick up an application at the local Suby dealer for the Subaru card. I noticed that it was through MBNA. I called the 800 number on the card and asked to transfer my account to the Subaru MC and they did.
I now get 3% of my purchases towards the Purchase/Lease of a new Subaru, service, or parts.

Basically every time I spent $3,333.33, they send me a $100 coupon good at any Subaru dealer.

I've been putting a tone of business expenses and personal stuff on it. I'll have some new Subaru stuff in no time.

Stacey

This is a pretty good card actually... it use to be more but they changed the policy and now its 3% and the amount u can get a year is a little different but its still nice..when I bought my 2000 GT I saved 1500 so basically it covered the tax and with my 2001 GT i saved like 400 so its nice to have. They jsut recently changed it to the 100 dollar coupons which u can use on services

What parts are you planning on gettng with this? My car has almost all the options I dont know what else I could get from a dealer. If i save enough maybe they will put leather in it for me haha

I'm not exactly sure what parts are available for the 2.5 GT, but for the RS you can get many of the FHI and/or STi parts from the local dealer.
Depending upon how many coupons I get, I could see myself getting the Sti Motor/transmission mounts, performance guage pack, new brake pads.

Hmmmm, I wonder if Sugar accepts these $100 coupons??

interest for me on the card isn't pretty...about 18%.

I'm assuming most people are the same, considering I have rather good credit

Cash advances and balance transfers do not give you credit. And it is net monthly purchases. So you can't go buy stuff and return it and earn $$.

Card is pretty cool - we saved a chunk of change on the wife's '99 Outback. I hope to have it over $1,000 for my STi in '04.

OUCH!! Nevermind ... I get 13.99 on my current MBNA Mastercard. I wonder if I can carry over the balance and interest rate

If you pay it off at the end of every month, the interest rate doesn't matter!

Very true ... but I'm paying just over the min payment for the next few months. All my extra money is going into the bank for closing costs on my new house After I move in, the card gets paid off. At least, that's the plan.

Cool, good luck with that! You'll definitely save more sticking with a traditional (low interest rate) card than you'd get back from Subaru...

Anybody know if these $100 certificates expire at any time?

Default Cool!

I had a MBNA/AMA card and got discounts on motorcycle stuff, but from what I remember it was like 19%.
So where are the savings if you dont pay at the end of the month!
Credit cards could be BAD

I saved $1,900 on my wife's WRX. I got most of it when they were offering 5% instead of 3%.

Default Points System?

I picked up one of these cards when I bought my Outback. I have 33 subaru points on my card, anyone know how to use these or how they relate to actual cash values?

thanks..

Points relate to $. Once you get 100 points, they are supposed to send you a coupon for $100, which is good for 4 years. You can earn up to a maximum of $500 per year, I believe.
