Default Just got a 97 L wagon

Ok, guys, I just got a 97 Impreza L wagon to use as a daily driver to cut down on driving the STI (When I get it this winter). This is the first N/A Subaru that I have ever attempted to mod. I don't want to do anything real serious but some more power would be real nice. I can find all kinds of info on the 2.5 motor but what about the 2.2? What should I do? I know that a CAIs on a WRX is a pointless mod. I assume that this is not the case with the N/A Subarus. What about headers and exhaust? I am currently parting out my WRX. Any of my 02 WRX parts fit the L? Thanks.

this engine sucks no matter what you do to it

Well that's not entirely true. I've just got an intake and it made very little difference. I've known people who have full headerback exhausts, intakes, pulley, retune and a few other mods and they still can't seem to get below a 16.0s ET

The 2.2's completely invincible, but you're not likely to squeeze more than a few more hp out of it. I'd just keep it as a daily driver. They're great for that. That thing will *never* break.

When you say parting out your WRX, are you talking aftermarket, or completely? If the latter is the case, just put the ej20 in the wagon. It will be a bitch to wire, but from what I've read, well worth the effort.

Probably because Subarus aren't drag cars. 2.2's respond nicely to a S-AFC, intake, exhaust (incld. headers if yours is a 5mt) and pulleys. Plus, they're very stout and will survive most anything.
