Default The ultimate MY99 intake I've seen. (courtesy of Rickard A.)

This is the long awaited unbeliveable MY99 intake that Richard West put together. It has been dynoed tested and proven to not cause a loss of low end torque. I myself and going to try and asseble one of these for myself. I'll let you know how it goes. We might be lucky and Richard will post here all the specs and measurements to save us all some guess work.

All I have to say is this is beautiful!

Thanks,

Jon

Default Possiblity

Yes Shawn that is correct and from what I've learned speaking with cobb. If you use the PRM style filters you won't ever have to worry about your maf as long as it is secure. PRM is the way to go!

Also Richard pointed out to me that the need for the S-AFC isn't really needed as the lean problem isn't really that bad up top (high RPM) like with other intakes.

I've got a call in requesting pricing on materials.

Since I now help out on the side with subee-sound and I'm their performance consultant, likely I would be able to work something out to advertise and possible sell them on their site. However that might now happen. I hope to hear back from the supplier soon.

I agree guys... and although looks aren't important to me, a little anodized coating of the piping would look really nice! However I personally know what I want to do. (It's a secret to keep it personalized)

Wow...thats beautiful.....
Count me in if theres a group but on the materials...
Thats probably the design that Cobb and Ganz are going to release for the 99's.
but i'd rather have it sooner than later.

Can you post the dyno results, or give us a quick write up of the gains and where they occur? Any chance of a sound-bite?
If Richard doesn't want to hand out the specs, might he be persuaded to build a few for sale?

Ya'll remember, you can't build a real race car without 300 mph tape!

Ahhh another Canadian Product. PRM Rules. I have one for my 00' RS and I can't get enough of it. Constantly beating the car for that sound.

if u have a weapon-R intake already, it's just a matter of getting the filter and making an extension to the fender...as well as FIRMLY SECURING it. larry ganz sent me(as well as a few other peeps) some instuctions and tips on how to make our own. it's very similar to this if not exactly the same. u can get the PRM filter from larry as well as some of the other items needed like the adaptor.

Wow, that's awesome. I can't wait for an intake to come out where I don't have to sweat about the MAF! Since I don't have a garage, nor any good tools, something pre-fabbed that I can bolt on myself would be sweet! Let us know asap when you get the results and when they're ready to get shipped!

See http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthr...&threadid=3457

The intakes I was talking about building use the PRM, the MAF adapter, and a GanzFlow intake which is cut to supply the piece between the air plenum and the MAF, and to supply the other piece to go between the PRM and the inner fender. All three peices are available on my site, and some parts ship asap and others take a few days to come in from the other two suppliers.

I have a gentleman's agreement with COBB that I will not build complete intakes with PRM filters that go to the throttle body. I can sell aluminum tubing that you can cut up to go to the air-plenum though. I am supposed to have pre-cut kits in the next couple if weeks to make one of these intakes from the air plenum of both the MY98 (and older) and MY99 as well. We had waited a few weeks for more PRM, then have to wait for the test subject to get back from vacation on 7/3 or 7/7.

Question Question

The intake looks great, but don't all intakes that don't use the stock air plenum lose low rpm torque? You've taken away that source of instantly available air anytime your remove the box. It seems to me that Larry's setup that is similar to this but keeps the plenum would be the best compromise. Feel free to ingnore this; I am doing the snorkusectomy with K&N and calling it good .

Edit: spelling

Well Larry has a valid point and it you go to www.prmracing.com you'll see that or Impreza's the refer you to Cobb Tunning.

I understand that few believe that low end torque can be save while still replacing the stock 'torque box', but I feel and was told that this don't have that problem. Look at the PRM design.. it is an enclosed filter and is a larger diameter than the intake piping so it is possible to store some air for this.

No intake is 'bullet proof', No one will ever sell a MY99 intake an promise no problems, although I feel this set-up won't cause anyproblems as through talking with Trey Cobb some, he feels the same. This set-up is very unlikely to cause problems.

I hope they get theirs going as well. I'm getting anxious and tired of waiting that's why I'm looking to build my own, thanks to Richards design.

I'll be working with Larry some this weekend as I'll be in Colorado springs. I'll let you guys know what we figure out.
