Default 92 legacy turbo wont start

well, i bought a 92 turbo that has 110k on it, it sat for the past 5yrs, i got it home and took it for a test drive and it had a nasty miss at high rpms, when i got out of the car i could smell stale gas, i tried to siphon the gas out but i couldn't get a hose in it, i decided to let the car just run out of gas cause it only had about half a tank, after letting it idle for about 6hrs over two or three days i decided to unhook the fuel filter and let the gas run into a jug, i got about 2gallons out of it, i drained the fuel filter of the bad gas and put new gas in the tank and now it wont start, i get fuel pressure past the filter but the car still wont start. any suggestions? thanks damon.

Did you check if you have spark? Set the plug gap to around .036
(new NGK plug won't hurt).
If the head gasket is blown you might be getting a bunch of water inside the combustion chamber.
While the plugs are out turn the motor over with starter to purge any water in the cylinders (disconect the igniter plug when doing this).
If you have spark-
Disconect one of the vacuum line that goes in to the intake plentum (just forward from the throttle body and dump some gas down it.
Plug it back in and try to start it again.

Good luck - Eric

pull a plug and check for spark (hold plug next to intake manifold while cranking) . possibly the ignitor, coil pack, or crank pos sensor.

I had a no start condition with mine a few weekends ago - but it was the fuel pump.

hth,

Roger

pull the plugs and let it turn over a while, then clean the plugs and reinstall.

My bet is that it flooded badly when recovering from running out of gas, due to intermittent air / gas from the empty new filter and drained lines.

You really should change all the fluids, filters, plugs, check the compression, add a some dry gas additive to a fesh tank of new gas, at the very least. Your connectors for ignition and sensors should all be removed, cleaned and reinstalled with dielectric grease. That miss is probably moisture worked in somewhere.
