uhhhh, and what exactly is wrong with that statement, or the review it came from?? The WRX isn't badged as an Impreza. The statement is completely accurate - it shares the Impreza platform, but not much else.

That's like saying the Legacy GT shares the Legacy platform but not much else. The WRX IS AN IMPREZA. PERIOD. It always has been; always will be. Same body, frame, interior, exterior, etc. etc. The ONLY thing that separates the WRX from the rest of the Impreza line is the engine and transmission. All other differences are minor tweaks. A WRX IS AN IMPREZA. That's why it's called the "Subaru Impreza WRX".

Gavin, not sure which WRX's you've been looking at, but mine certainly says Impreza on it.

This reminds me of that "Virtual Test Drive" site which reviews cars without driving them. They described the 1st gen 2.5 RS as "stupid, ugly, and ridiculous" or something to that effect. And it went on to say that Subaru's "reputation" was as a maker of practical, non-sport automobiles, and that Subaru should stay away from the performance market.

Part of the problem here is that Subaru conveniently leaves out the "Impreza" part when mentioning the WRX. They always refer to it as the "Subaru WRX". I think it's causing people to think that the Impreza and WRX are two completely differenct models.

Exactly! You hit it right on the nose Bryan. I don't think Subaru marketing wants people to associate the WRX with the Impreza. Those who don't know any better will just think of it like an Ford Escort GT is to a regular Escort, if they added the word Impreza before WRX. Seems like a smart marketing strategy.

Um, besides the Engine and hoodscoop, its not much different than the new RS... Its definatly an Impreza...

Oh, I would say it is most definitely an Impreza:

And The offical Subaru site lists the WRX under Impreza.

There's nothing to be ashamed of...we're all one big family. (Although I'm beginning to wonder about those funny cousins...) Brotha!
