Hey folks, I have re-joined my old Boy Scout troop here in Lafayette and I need your help. What I am planning on doing is organizing a little auto-enthusiast event with my local troop. Here is the deal so far...
They have a merit badge "Auto Mechanics" and I want to integrate the work on the badge with some exposure to some good old fashion racing. An adult in the troop owns European Motors in Lafayette and is willing to take the boys over there to show them an auto shop. The both of us put our heads together and thought that along with the shop tour and merit badge stuff...a day at the races would be a blast. So...anyone know of any sort of events comming up (in about a month) at Thunderhill or Sears Point? And secondly...I would love to have some of you guys meet us there...to show off our toys and convert some more to the world of the Scooby! And on a real cool note...A friend of the family has a garage at Sears Point. He races classic sports/racing cars. Last time I was there he had a GT40 and a 70's Indy Car. If we all get together (Scooby owners/tuners, high end autoshop owner, pro. race car driver/restorer, and Sears Point) I think some magic can happen! I will be sure to keep you all informed. Would any of you be up for sharing some Scooby cars/knowledge with scouts? Let me know! Thanks a lot...this is going to be great for the kids...and US! D. Neil Crawford

Well my boss runs in the Russell Race Series at Sears Point, which is monthly. I have been a few times and belive that they are allways open to spectators. There are few spectators and several races, depending on driver turnout, so you can watch from all around the track. http://www.searspoint.com/schedule/index.html |
