Flat Black Body Paint

BTW, didn't they do this on that SpeedChannel Show, "Tuner Transformations"?

It really all depends on what you mean by sleeper. If you just don't want the extra attention of those who are clueless about cars just do the whole de-badge, de-wing, de-scoop method.

Now if you mean you want to street race, but you want to try and fool others who might not be so savy... Do all of the same as above, but then add the most obnoxious wing, the cheapest vinyl graphics, some Type-R badges, and some neon lights (inside and outside) with the bulbs showing. Walk around talking about if you had NOS you would be the fast MFer in the Tri-State area. You might have some people anxious to race then. Ricers are always a fun target for racers; you just gotta rice it all the way out or they might pay better attention. Oh, and don't forget to have a cheap stereo wtih a 15" sub that does nothing but rattle the car.

Rebadge as a RS. Remove hoodscoop, wing, front air splitters, get black FMIC, put on stock RS wheels, install stock foglights.

Any competent body shop can take your existing STi hood, weld on sheet metal where the scoop was, and smooth it out with bondo. That will destroy your existing hood and make it permanently look like that picture though. Body and paint work for doing that to the hood would probably be anywhere from 500-800 or so. I think that looks really good too.

Just ignore the big single tip, please.
I forgot: in addition to removing the wing and most of the badges, I got a Borla Hush cat-back exhaust. Two tips, bigger than the regular WRX ones but not as big as the OEM STi tip. That also makes the car blend a bit. HPH

so the whole idea of wanting a sleeper is to fool yourself? or to not grab extra attention of people that might vandalize your car?

Just remove the wing. Cops love my car.

because the WRX is getting a lot of attention lately. Lots of people modding them, ricing them, pimping them. Of course, it will never replace the civic (which is cheaper and more available to younger people)

Have you considered the Legacy GT (sorry if this has been mentioned already)? Now that vehicle is a real sleeper, along with excellent (although not at STI level) performance!

Default hood scoop...

Any suggestions on different routes or products to use?

I would like to keep some downforce in the rear and not add any extra weight ie 2.5rs hood, but I also want a more tranquil look, you know?

My color choice will probaly be white with gold wheels.

Thanks.
That bad boy is there for more reasons than just looks. I'm sure you notice the air to air intercooler right below the hood scoop. No hood scoop means no airflow to the intercooler your intake air temp will raise >20 deg F and the ugly specter of detonation will come around under boost. I suggest going to another more tame looking hood scoop, but keep some sort of pathway for at least some air to intercooler. Good luck

But at some point you have to come across what that acronym stands for and I simply have not come across what fmic stands for.

Thanks sc3ptor. Back in the day they were just called intercoolers or IC dunno what the need is to designate location. I've never come across any car with more than one so never needed to designate location.

you want sleeper, do what everybody does. focus with v8 swap. or old volvo 740 sedan or wagon with supercharged ford v8. its been done and have kits for them.
You could paint the gold Brembo calipers black.

But express_wagon is right, you won't full anyone who knows things about cars.
The ultimate scoobie sleeper would be a Subaru 360 with a EJ257 or EJ20? Spec C engine I know it wouldn't work but you can see what I mean by a sleeper
Cops won't harrass you though. Dumb ricers could possible be still a hassle.

Yeah I think it looks awesome too. I suppose a TS hood would fit a wagon. I might leave the WRX badge on. That and the exhaust would look like just as little rice on TS. Dam that pic! doing this is going to cost me money!

In all honesty I think it would be really difficult to tone down the STI for me. I wouldnt have a problem removing the spoiler and hood scoop, but painting the calipers, changing wheels, wrx side skirts, complete debadging might be going too far for me. Theres still some pride in me that wants to show off the STI you know.

I'm not concerned about ricers trying to race me or anything like that. My main concern is going to work in a suit and tie in the STI. Taking clients out to lunch in the STI could feel akward. As sad as it sounds the stereotypes are hard to escape in a car like that.

Anyone know anything about the Prodrive STI? It would appear they have used a FMIC on this version. And where can you get the hood thats on it? Is it the stock hood with a reverse scoop? That would be very sharp with a black anodized FMIC!
