Default J-Spec Conversion for MY98 Legacy Wagon

Fellow Legacy'ers...

I'm uncertain whether this has been a discussion in the past but I'd like to ask anyways. I own a MY98 Legacy Wagon ... and have pulled off many mods. However, as a cherry on the top of it all ... I'd like to convert many of the North Am. Spe details to Japanese ones...

As follows:

1. Red/Clear Tail Light Assembly (etched "LEGACY" instead of "SUBARU")

~ this is a very diserable piece ... it would finish the entire look and continuity of the car much better. anyone pulled off this mod? if so, besides importing one from visiting Asia or Europe, where can we obtain these? anyone know the part OEM #?

2. Clear Corner Lamps

~ I'm still confused about this one. are the headlights in Japan single piece, so that the corners are integrated? i'd really like to see if clear corners are available before trying the DIY method (OUCH!!)

Further more:

would anyone would with decked out wagons (rims, spoiler, etc.) like to post their pics?)

Thanks...

Bevan,

uhh, the post mid-life upgrade gave the top line BG Legacys projector headlamps, separate high beam, and clear indicators in a one piece body.

Assuming the front crash mods to the body were the same (they did a lot of upgrading there), they should be bolt on.

Get'em from Ben - he seems to know where to find the stuff better than most!

Cheers.

AnotherB4:

As far as I know the MY95 N. Am Spec Legacy headlamps wereone piece = utilizing 9007/H7 dual filament bulbs and an integrated turning lamp with of course, an ugly amber leanse insert ... god damn SOA!!! sorry guys ... just a little hot headed there ...

I would love to upgrade my lights to these projector ones you are referring to ... has anyone you know (in here, maybe) upgraded to the Morette twin system?

Arrggh... so frustrating ...

Saw one with Morettes sometime ago here - natch you'd have to get an LHD version (sorry, had brain failure on my last post - the JDM headlights are a no-no ).

They - the Morettes - seemed to have much better light output than the pathetic OE stuff - I was continuously looking for better bulbs. Never seemed to take off here though - the double barrelled looks weren't the best in daylight personally - but each to his/her own, and they may be one of the best among the limited choices available (not that I know any others).

Good luck on your quest!

Cheers.

I know what you mean with the Morettes -- the aesthetic quality is not one which I favour that much -- too generic if you ask me ... but as far as the light output ... I'm certain one would gain there ...

With the JDM lights ... would the LH and RH wiring harness be diffrerent? I'm uncertain as to where would this be concern since as far as I know yet ... lighting is simply connections between various relays and power sources -- wouldn't a Sube technician be able to figure it out? Hmmm ...

Hmmm.. the DIY method is edging even closer know .. that and Hyperwhite bulbs ....

i think the harnesses would be the same. it's the output that's different. lhd assemblies tend to angle the light higher to the right so drivers coming the other way are not blinded. rhd cars do the opposite.

as i have posted before... my friend in okinawa emails me all this stuff to piss me off because i have no means of obtaining any of it i just post what he sends to me here so everyone can share in my misery...

the gtb headlights have a separate projector low beam and high beam, so the lighting harness will be different since ours has high/low in a single bulb, as well as the jdm non-gtb. morettes have an adaptor harness available for conversion from this. not sure how the oem gtb projectors work out.

Where there's a will, there's a way ... do you have connections in getting some JDM or some Legacy Specific parts for our cars? I'd love to share in the wealth...

Benjamin Tang -- Just FYI, the Legacy headlights are two piece units from 1998-1999. The corner light is actually a seperate piece. Just thought I'd let you know.

really? hm, why would they do that? i piece is so much cleaner... except until you have to change the bulb.

does this mean my one-piece jobbies are in demand? help me fund my gtb frenzy?

as i had posted elsewhere, i have no connections, just people on the other side on the pond who believe in cruel punishment via internet

again, whatever there is from the local dealer would be new, full retail, as long as i have part numbers and a very high credit card limit... neither of which i have

Default JDM Taillights

I may get a set of JDM taillights for BG5 Legacy (Red/Clear) and a set of side markers for BH5 Legacy from Japan in August.

L/R rear corner lamps only... no center piece.

They are both used but in good condition.
How much are you willing to spend? I will take the best offer.
pm me or e-mail me.

Yuji ...

your post was immaculate in timing ... i am willing to dish out an honest bundle if you can obtain a set for myself.

here is my email address:

[email protected]

i'd like to discuss this with you further ... since i am very interested.

addendum* the attached graphic only shows the rear corner lamps ... you are aware that the BG5 tail light assembly is 3 piece set, right? .. the centre piece with LEGACY/SUBARU etched in the middle of the red pane, and the left and right corner lamps...

get back to me when you can ...

thanks.

Thanks

If it's JDM specific parts you're looking for, I'd suggest you contact Shawn Gilson from Challengerdeep. He's able to get you ANY JDM part you need, even the Sti stuff!! Just tell him either the part number or give him a description of the part you need, and he'll get it to you. The only problem is that the parts are VERY expensive. I hope you guys have deep pockets.

Here's the site. I think his e-mail address is on it.

i got back a few weeks ago. i was overwhelmed by the stuff they have just hanging on the walls: coilovers, titanium exhausts, and rows and rows of wheels. so i kind of got distracted and forgot to look for side markers and things.. sorry..
