Default So i think i have a boost leak, how do i test this?

I think that i have a leak with my vf22 setup but i don't know how to do (i'm not sure if this is what its called) "a pressure test". I did a search and got nothing. Could someone tell me how to do this?

Thanks,

Rusi

Where do you think the leak is? You could start by having someone hold a gloved hand against your tailpipe and look around flanges for escaping air (while the car is still cool). Do you hear it or are you not making full boost?

The funny thing is that i can't hear because i have an exhaust leak as well, due to warped flanges. Talk about ghetto But i think i have a leak because of the following:

1) i'm trailing off from 18ish psi to 14 psi before redline
2) i'm running minimal timing and if i increase timing all i do is knock. Good gas can fix this, but i also feel that the turbo is having to work harder to produce my target boost, hence producing a hotter charge leading to a situation more prone to knock.

I'm gonna do some logs tonight and i'll post them to show what i mean about the boost tapering. I have put my hand, without a glove, right next to the block and the header and next to the uppipe and header, i couldn't hear or feel anything. Just for comparison, i put my hand next to my downpipe-mid section leak and felt significant amounts of air pulse against my hand.

My mods:

vf22
Utec
modded injectors
HKS downpipe w/full custom exhaust with stock muffler
Gt spec header + uppipe

Back at ya.

In reference to the leak, your MAF voltage is not abnormally high, if anything it strikes me as a little low. We can play with a helper spring, and a couple other ideas I have about your setup. I do not think you have a leak, but we can double check it next time you are by.
