Hmm..the wrxhackers site seems to have a lack of any maps.
People seem reluctant to share their maps, in case someone nukes their motor and then blames the map. Makes sense I suppose. Will have to tweak myself. |

I am and love my Utec...tuna will be going in in a couple weeks once I get some free time. I have no probs sharing my maps as long as you don't blame me for any probs... must remember all cars are a bit different. All the maps I am running now are custom tweaked off of turboXS base maps and I get no knock at all but I'm sure I am running rich in a few spots which for now is for safety till the tuna is in. So I have altered fueling a bit, advanced timing more and have a few different maps that I have been playing with. I basically smoothed out the timing curve so that the cross over point between the ECU and Utec is almost unnoticably smooth, and spool is much better! I am also runing around 16.5-17psi in fourth and do peak to about 17.5 in 5th with no knock Once the tuna is in the fun begins.... If you want to see my maps let me know and I will upload them.
I have been following the thread about quicktime performance running a 12.78 on stock turbo, fuel, and intercooler with 21psi and 15psi at redline and have been talking with the guy about what there tune was like so I can up my power to that level. I have all the same type of mods as they do plus a few more and minus the header but I am going to wait to get the tuna in first want to make sure avoid going BOOM!!!! |

I've got a UTEC too. I tuned my fuel using a Zeitronix WB02, and then set timing so I had no knock. Post questions in the Engine Management forum and you will get lots of responses... and I will try to help you too. My map won't be of any use to you since I have a bigger turbo.

Good stuff guys! If you can either PM some maps or post them that would be excellent.
I installed the UTEC this evening, went in like a charm, map selector installed by the hand brake. I downloaded the UTEC maps from wrxhackers (the old site) and installed them as follows :- 0 stock 1 stage 1 from TurboXS 2 stage 2 octane challenged 3 stage 2 from TurboXS 4 stage 2 with uppipe I've got 94 in there now. The car runs and i'm installing the ABC tomorrow and doing some logs and test the maps. Gethin. |

It's in and running like a charm. It's a big improvement over stock, it will be even better with the ABC as it's not getting above 14 to 15psi right now.
Reminds me very much of MY97 WRX I had in Wales!! http://dyno.scoobynet.co.uk/jap/gethin_evans.htm comapred to tuned up UTEC stage 2 (no uppipe tweaks) from TurboXS site http://www.turboxs.com/utecstg2.htm Can't wait to get it tweaked! Gethin. p.s I would have stayed for a drink but my brother in law had to get going! Next time! |

Hey man, that stage 2 with uppipe map... was that the one of WRXhackers but the customized one? if so be very careful with it. It doesn't run much extra fuel and ups the timing a ton. I tried it once just to see and it knocked as soon as I tounched the throttle out of ECU mode to 15 count so personally I would stay away from it. The timing map doesn't seem half bad and I've used info from many I've seen to build mine but the fuel map is way too lean and could really make things go BOOM!!! Just my .02
Jameson PS: If you live in Langley we should get together sometime, maybe organize a mini meet out here...better yet a tuning meet! I live a block out of Langley so I am in the same area. |

Sounds good. It's the Stage 2 with PDE uppipe map tweak. I'm only running the stage1 map for now until I get the ABC and get to know the system.

I've been running UTEC Stage4 for a while now and Version 4.2 with OLF is a big improvement (with the stock map) despite low TPS hesitation.
I haven't tuned the stock map...looked at doing PDX dyno day, but I hear stories of cars being tuned knock-free down there, but due to different gas the car may knock running even 94 up here. Does anyone have ideas on who can street tune the UTEC up here...I know I'm not getting all of the car's potential (with a stock map), but I don't feel comfortable with tuning myself. FWIW...hope that helps, Brian Broz |

Brian, send an e-mail or try PM'ing PATR. Pat Richard can street tune your UTEC (correct me if I'm wrong).

I thought I had caught up to you with my exhaust and U/P mods, then you go and UTEC your car. I'll be sure not to rev on the blue wagon in Langley now.

Oh, and i'm trying to get this parasitic RS232 data radio to work with the UTEC.
No more cables hanging from the back of the laptop. Wireless data logging and UTEC management........ http://www.datahunter.com/tick.html Cool eh? |

If you get that working let me know because I WANT ONE!!!!!
As far as tuning Kinetic motorsports was road tuning a WRX with a UTEC and a garret GT35R-11 so they may be able to help you out as well, they are really good tuners! I have done lot's of road tuning on mine and I think I really have got the hang of it but without a dyno it's impossible to know for sure if everything is at an optimal level. |

Or email him: [snip]
I'm considering getting Pat to Ecutek my car, but he said he could help me fine tune my UTEC if that's what I prefer to do. Steve Quote:
