Default Do Underdrive Pulleys damage alternator ?

I have noticed sometimes while driving the engine suddenly shuts off

The battery seems to be in good shape and even if jump-started, the pulleys spin, but the spark plugs refuse to fire ?

Is this an alternator problem
Are there new stronger alternators ??

Sounds like you better get this to a Subie dealer. Do you have any other mods besides under drive pulleys? I 've never heard of underdrive pulleys damaging the alternator but I have heard they they can damage your accessories because underdrive pulleys tend to "starve" your accessories of full power. I'm curious about any other mods because it sounds like it's an ignition problem that could be related to an improper ECU tuning map flash or a junky ECU piggyback chip. If I knew the mods U were running, I could probably narrow it down a little more for you.

My guess is the piggyback chip. Just a shot in the dark though.

ive been running underdrive pulleys for over 40,000 miles without any trouble. Sounds like a timing or an air fuel mixture issue. which would be directly related to your chip.

most people around here do not use chips as there are not any that give proven trouble free gains. Its not like the vw world.

I doubt the pulleys damaged the alternator, but it could be deteriorating anyway.

If the motor turns over but wont spark thats not a battery issue. The starter motor requires a lot more juice to turn over than the coil. When you installed your chip, I assume you spliced it into the wiring harness? I would double check those connections for a loose wire.

The shop found I had inadvertently bottomed out while going over a pot-hole or a speed breaker or gone over a wooden plank on the road
This had damaged the oxygen sensor and created a short circuit that blew the 60 Amp Fuse

I was kind of surprised about the bottoming out since I just put in new suspension
