Default from a built Evo IX RS to a 02' bugeye 2.5RS...

****updates and parts installs on just about every page! take a gander and enjoy****

hey everyone....figured id introduce myself... ive been an avid EVO guy for about 5 years now... just sold my baby last week (the payments were getting tough @ $720 a month) and used all the equity i had in the car to buy this bugeye straight up... I have big plans for it... full STI swap, etc... im impatient, so it shouldnt take too long...lol

heres my old baby.... 402awhp and 402tq on e85, stock block, stock turbo. plenty of bolt ons and a nicely built suspension

and heres my "new" 2002 bugeye first mods will be some coilovers and a set of 18x9.5 rota grids (in white).. wrx hood and sideskirts, sti trunk/wing, and i think its a c-west lip (not sure yet who makes it)

You only got a 2.5?

I'm no Subaru Expert but I'm fairly positive it would have been cheaper to buy a STi rather than fully sway into a 2.5rs.

Sick evo though and best of luck in the future.

i got what i could afford to pay cash for... now i own it..and dont have to worry about payments anymore.. thats all i cared about... i had my fun with the evo... and prefer to build a car into something great then to just buy it...theres much more pride in it.. and the bugeye is my favorite style of all the imprezas...but they never brought the STI stateside i have methods to my madness! lol... if i could have built an evo out of a lancer, odds are, i would have done that too

well the insurance will def be cheaper, no payments is nice, and the swap SHOULD be cheaper than buying an sti. however, all the little things won't be as nice like interior etc. it should def be a fun project! good luck!

i dont think he is too worried about interior as it looks like he is bulding a track car the evo was caged so my guess is he will be gutting and caging this as well

Gorgeous Evo! Good luck with the new build too, can't wait to see how it turns out. Also, if you're putting a hood scoop on it, check out the JDM Bugeye STI one, it's pretty as ***.

thanks guys..... i dont think ill go quite as crazy with this one as i did to the evo... probably no cage since this will be my daily driver and i have 2 kids..... the interior is a bit bland...but i plan to swap in the full STI interior as well... always liked the 2-tone look

yup Ronnie i think it is jesse

let me start off by saying I once saw your evo driving down the 10e and nearly flipped out that thing looked gorgeous.

I noticed I didn't see the evo anymore when I headed out across the street at pepboys from your work. good to see you've joined us in the subaru scene

now hurry and jdm ej207 swap that thing !!
hope to see you out at subifest.
see you around

(guy with the 2000 2.5rs, also messed around at Adams with you a few times, but much much slower :/ )

its me...lol... and thank you! i really miss my EVO... i had it just how i wanted it, and EVERYONE seemed to know that car! it had quite a reputation.. and ill miss that! BUT, its time to start a new project, and work hard to give my bugeye a nice reputation although it will be much much harder to pull off... but i think i can do it but ill need some help from you subie guys to point me in the right direction for parts and who has stashes of cool stuff lying around! hahahaha

thanks and the spirit of competition was just the slogan so-to-speak of Ralliart.. like if they made a commercial.. it would show the ralliart logo, followed by their slogan "spirit of competition" lol... like McDonalds and the "Im Lovin It"

Nice evo. And awesome you came to the subaru side. Just saw your evo in the november issue of modified mag in the mitsubishi owners day article. Thing looked wicked. Good luck with your bug eye build. Great looking condition subaru you got.

I remember seeing that car plenty of times on EvoM, was very nicely built with a great sense of detail. Best of all, it wasn't some tool going hellaflush JDM YO and you actually raced it.

I too am looking to do the same thing with my Evo and sell it, get rid of the payments and buy something that I can actually own.

Should be cool to see the transformation.

I'm not sure you know what you're getting yourself into if you want to do a FULL STi swap. (engine, drivetrain, suspension, brakes, interior) I agree with aaronszone1, would have been smarter to start out with an STi, and do a bugeye front end swap if you wanted it that bad. But good luck with your project.

I think your missing the point of NO PAYMENTS, PAID IN FULL! If he can keep his ass out of debt, he could slowly build this and enjoy his life, instead of working to pay off some debt.

How the hell did you have a $720 month payment?!

I THINK YOU MISSED THE POINT WHERE HE SAID HE'S IMPATIENT. He'll probably be in debt soon anyway trying this build.

That evo looked nuts i almost bought myself one back in 06 but ended up with my wrx must agree theres something about building a car into what you want instead of just buying one i'll definitely be following the build GL with it and im sure if you hit any rough spots there is plenty of people on here that have great knowledge on everything that will chime in.

I can see the 2.5RS -- if you know you're going to do some serious engine stuff may as well start with a car that isn't as tuner friendly (more likely to find one that hasn't been modified)

But can I ask --

Only grids?

looking at your first car... where's the TE37's . Anyway sounds like a fun build and welcome

Seriously! How is this possible? My buddy was paying less for an IS-F! A marked up IS-F at that!

It was/ is a nice EVO though.
