I was on Subaru.com searching dealer inventories for a '05 Legacy GT when i noticed Subaru of Countryside home page describing the amount of each model they have in stock. They had 44 Legacys and 26 STi's.
My local Indianapolis dealer acts like his one STi is a prize possession and you should be lucky to be allowed to buy it. Anyone ever dealt with them, looks like it may be worth the drive up for this kind of sales power dealer.

wow 26 sti's? i would think that would be bad thing. i mean after having variations in color and certain features, what would be the point in having so many? they will just sit there on the lot, collecting dust.

i bought my car from countryside, but the associate i dealt with was from the pontiac dealer next door (owned by Wolf Family as well). Dealership seemed nice, but I really wouldn't know. Got my headgasket fixed at gerald in naperville and I had the same just "meh.." feeling of apathy. Wasn't particularly great, but then there weren't any problems so....

You sure that's not an error? That's kind of hard to believe. I could see 26 WRXes but that many STis? If they're not moving them you'd think SOA would stop delivering them.

My sis bought her '05 WRX there. It was a good experience. The dealership has its own Subaru building now.
Lat time I was there (2 weeks ago) they had 7 STI's in the front lot, 1 in the garage, 2 in the showroom. So 10 in the front, I don't know about the back lot. I'm just interested in a CGM WRX Wagon 5-speed, which they don't have ATM. |

So does that mean we can get a super deal on them?! I think this is the time of year when companies try really hard to make their year end numbers, perhaps we'll see some good incentives. Do you all think we'll start seeing some killer deals in the near future?

I would have to think it would be hard to give you the ole "its a rare car, the only one we have in stock" full price BS song and dance like my local dealer does when you got 26 of them sitting there.

I know the sales manager there. They are great guys to deal with! As of this post they have 26 Sti's on there grounds, with a couple more inbound. Ask for Dave Edwards, and tell him Dave Nelson sent you for the best price!!

I bought our WRX from Dan Wolf, too. Sounds like things are changing there. They had, IIRC, four WRX in stock when I bought mine... and they didn't even let Subarus into the showroom, which was all Pontiacs and GMCs.

There's a dealer in CT that advertises a large selection of STIs in AutoWeek; sounds like Countryside's doing the same thing, though I haven't seen any advertisements.

Greg- I wouldn't buy a car here in Indy unless they have exactly what you want. When my buddy went to buy his first STI the local lots were like "we can't get that color for 6monthes, it's hard to get" "we can't get that color either it's hard to get" "we can get a blue one though (because it was already on the lot) if you want it". He ended up flying to New York and driving back his white one. After it was stolen he went back up there and tried again. Same story. "those are hard to get, but we do have a blue one" So he ended up finding one at another dealer in New York flying out and driving it back. Hell I flew out to Texas and drove mine back to Indy.

Yeah you've got to there and check out there awesome inventory. Not to mention how great they are to deal with. The sales manager Dave and his sales people are so easy work with. You have to stop by or give them a call. The building is almost done and it looks sweet!!!

7,800 lb/ft of torque! Awesome.
26 STi's: 9 Black 7 Crystal Grey 4 Platinum Silver 4 Blue 2 White **RANT**: I HATE HATE HATE how the Subaru dealer websites no longer provide the optional equipment data for their inventory. Maybe I'm missing something, but now there's no way to tell which car is equipped the way I'd want it, without a physical trip to the stealership. IIRC, they revamped the websites sometime this summer. |

I agree that without knowing the options it makes it a lot less usefull. I have seen other manufactures show you a copy of the window sticker online.

Nelly , thanks, it must be up to the individual dealers to put in this options info, as most do not list this when you search the individual dealer inventory.
Just another plus for Countryside as a dealer. |

You are correct, and up untill yesterday their website was the same way. I made a little phone call for you guys, pulled a couple of strings and a couple of hours later it was added!

Nelly, thanks! Its a miracle.
So that's one less barrier to my entry into the world of STi-dom, though my preferred dealership, Evanston Subaru, still doesn't provide the option data. Unfortunately, I have to travel quite a bit in November, so I'd hate to buy my brand new STi and then have to leave it outside, all by its lonesome self. Doug |
