Default downpipe to transmission bolt on 4eat?

I purchased a used downpipe and gutted it for my 02 wrx.. I drive a 4eat and the downpipe I got used was from a manual.. The downpipe hanger to the transmission doesn't fit.. so I cut it off...

Does anyone know if this will be a problem?

Does all the aftermarket dp use the transmission hanger?

Thanks.

Dont worry about it. Most if not all Aftermarket Downpipes dont use the Transmission bolt/hanger

If it's not rattling or rubbing against anything I wouldn't worry about it to much.

I didn't put mine back on (5MT) when I took the DP off - that bolt is a biatch to get in!

I am looking for the same answer. I bent my brace up and out of the way. What about the second brace that is under the car next to the O2 sensor? Does it fit on the rear downpipe? The car came with an injen downpipe.

Without that bolt in place on the hanger, more stress will be put onto the bolts that connect the DP to the turbo.

It's not a big deal. The only problem not having that hanger secured to the tranny is slight gasket leak over time especially if your engine mounts are shot and your engine moves around a good bit.
