Question Oil Pump Replacement?

I think my oil pump may be dying, my oil pressure has a tendency to get a little low, but it rises with acceleration. Do I need any special tools for this, or is it pretty straightforward?

You dont need any tools to do the pump itsself (make sure to get new O-rings to install the new pump with) but you will have to re-do the timing belts which required tensioning the pully / timing belt before tightening the bolts on the tensioner pully. (if that makes sense)

So would I be correct in assuming the pump is behind the fluctuating oil pressure, or could there be something else?

Probably the oil pump / oil pump gaskets

Most likely the oil pump and/or gaskets. You should be hearing plenty of valve tapping already.

But if you replace that and the oil pressure is still low (using a properly installed testing gauge and not the one in the car) then your engine bearings may be worn out.
