are you cooking the beef? you don't need any oil... beef already has a lot of fat that will melt and let the meat brown.

Frying tortillas with meat in them?

I believe my room mate uses vegetable oil, but if we're running low he may add some olive oil.

no you ****ing idiots, not frying tortillas with meat in them. You take a corn tortilla, drop it in the hot oil, shape it like a taco till it gets browned, take it out, let it cool then fill with taco stuff

We use Peanut Oil I believe.

Peanut Oil is teh best for frying.

thanks for the help guys, we used canola. next time gonna use peanut.

took a couple of boiling oil spatters to the eyes, but the tacos were good.

Don't switch to synthetic until after the first 50 tacos.

Umm, but seriously to make a hardshell taco from a soft corn tortilla you should use one of the following:
- butter
- bacon fat
- lard
