Default JDM Ver 7 Vs. USDM STi cams

What benefits (if any) will I see from swapping my Ver. 7 STi cams for USDM STI cams? The motor is already out, would this be a worthwhile upgrade? Thanks

I think to get replys that help, you have to give a bit more info on the project you are doing.

When I used the search function to look up similar information I came up with
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=630797, that might get you started.

As it is now you I think you have to define your quesiton a lot more.

I did not find any info on either cam in that thread. My setup is a ver. 7 motor, 4-2-1 headers, 3" exhaust, fmic, and 20g. I am just interested in how the peak power and curve might change when swapping in the USDM Sti cams. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has installed USDM Sti cams in a ej205 or ej207.

Why would you? The US STi cams have higher lift but will not work the 8K+ rpm's that the JDM motors see. If you plan on staying below 6500 then sure. However, I believe the cam sensors for AVCS are different so you may loose your AVCS.

Peak power would be made sooner as it is higher lift. I believe. Don't quote me. Check it out. Those are designed for a motor that runs at lower RPM's so makes peak power lower in the rpm range. The JDM cams have longer duration which is what you want on a motor that spins.

If you want to change, I would source some RA cams and retain the AVCS. Or stick a JUN cam in there that is designed for the 2.0 and get mad power. Of course you'll loose the AVCS.

Nothing on the US STi is better than what you have. No, it is not a worth while upgrade. IMHO since you asked. Good luck.
