Talking Solo event in Grand Junction Possibility

Hot off the RMSOLO list:

Quote:
There is a new track being developed in Grand Junction CO. It will have
asphalt down July 8. It is 8/10 mile long, 32 feet wide, 17 turns, new
asphalt. I've walked it and it looks like fun.

In order to put on an event or two here, I need to be sure people will drive
over. Grand Junction is 250 miles west of Denver. My idea is to have a
2-day event, probably in mid-September. Cost will be $65/person per
weekend, and we'll run it like a track event - minimal cones. We'll also
limit entries to 60 drivers so everyone can get plenty of track time.

If you're interested in doing this, please let me know by Friday, and I'll
get it arranged.

So anybody interested? It seems if you would get more track time that at a normal autocross- also seems this is more of a time trail event. I emailed her about saftey requirements (for SCCA timetrials SOLO-1 you gotta have cage, wear a firesuit, etc)

it'll very likely be treated as a Solo Trials event and not a Solo1 event. Speaking of, there are two scheduled Solo Trials this fall at Second Creek. I don't think anything has been announced yet, but it was something we discussed at the Safety Steward training meeting.

also, remember Carol is from CMC and not SCCA. I doubt this will be an SCCA event (if it were we would be getting an e-mail from one of the big dogs). CMC treats their events differenetly from SCCA.

I may be wrong about this... but I remember reading something somewhere that you have to have a Solo1 license to race in Solo1 races... not just be a SCCA member?

What are the plans for the solo trials. I remember Josh saying at one point a cage and firesuit was optional (but highly reccommended), and then a while later saying a cage and firesuit would not be optional, which would mean I couldn't run. IMHO, I would personally feel comfortable running my car without (and that's probably why I'm not a SS).
