Default need help w/ jdm hid

i just bought the jdm black/chrome hid lights, but can't put them on. it came with the bulb, and i think the ignitor (the thing on top of the bulb.. ) anyways, i'm currently running brightstar hids on my stock headlamps. i was wondering if i can use the brightstar ballast and plub it into the jdm lights. however, i found out that the plug is the same exact one. they are both female ...or male..dunno which one is which, but they are the same exact plug. i was wondering if i can just cut off the plug on my brightstar ignitor and solder it in place of the plug on the jdm lights. the plug for the ignitor is the one that has a orange plastic covering over the wires right? any help is appreciated.

if your brightstar ballasts have built in ignitors you cannot just splice into the orange/brown/black wires in the orange loom. doing this will have two ignitors wired in series per bulb, which i know from experience doesnt work...

if the ballasts are d2s/d2r spec, they will work. if they do have internal ignitors, the easiest way would be to no use the stock ignitors and plug the bulbs into the plug from the ballast, but routing the wires in the housing and mounting the ballasts will be more difficult since lengthening the wire between the bulb and ballast is not an option.

my brightstar ballast doesn't have built in ignitors, the ignitors are seperate. so can i use the plug on the brightstar ignitor and use it for the jdm ignitors? it wouldn't cause any harm right? what kind of souter (however you spell it) should i use? should i use some kind of clamp or other electirical thingis instead?

just found out that the wire on the brightstar ignitor looks like one big wire..it doesn't look like the jdm wires, where its orange, black, and red. still has the same plug though...is it still a good idea to use the plug from the brightstar ignitor?

i'd suggest cutting off the connectors and wiring your own. you're not going to be able to find the male end of the plug on the orange loom for any affordable price.

yea...i might try it today. hmm..i tried looking if the brightstar is a d2s/d2r spec, but it doesn't say. but is it still okay to use the ballast as long as the ignitor is seperate?

hmm...well little update about my headlights..i bought the hid kit from gruppe-s. and i know it said that the kit was for the jdm projectors...but they don't fit at all. it goes right through the hole. does anybody know what the heck the correct bulb size is for the jdm hid headlights? are the non-hid jdm headlights and the hid jdm headlights' bulb different size? the kit said h1 on it, but it didnt fit, so me and my friends made some custom brackets to make it fit, but it doesn't light up anything! even halogen lights out power mine! aurgh...

OEM HIDs use industry-standard D2S bulbs. The ones in your retrofit kit are rebased and non-standard, and have been reconfigured to mount in the non-HID JDM H1 housings. You can't mount them in the D2S receptacles in the JDM HIDs. You can't mount H1's either, or any other halogen bulbs. Only D2S bulbs will fit properly.
