Default stromung goes pop?

So I just installed my stromung catback this afternoon....awesome

nice butt dyno gains, especially in the lower end.

under certain circumstances with medium acceleration and then letting off the gas, i'll hear a little pop sound. Sounds like really light backfire.
I also have a ganzflo and lightened pulley. am i just running too rich?

is an ecu reset in order?

you should hear my car, if I'm coasting down a hill in gear, and just BARELY tap the throttle, it goes:

pop-pop-poppity-POP-POP-burble-POP-POP-BANG-pop-poppity-pop

Don't worry about it, its normal!

i love the burble and expect a pit of popity pop
but there is a distinct pop, almost more of a thud since it's low pitched....

but if it's ok, i'm ok!

Mine does the same. Some section of OEM pipe you removed had a resonator in it, that "filtered" the poping/gargling/sputering noises.

Everything detonates fuel in the exhaust. If you are driving alone (no other cars around), you probably thought that it was a rock being thrown up under your car when it did it with the stock exhaust.

Undo one of the battery cables and press the brake for 1 minute. Then reinstall.

Yes, reinstall the battery cable and you are set. Some say you are supposed to idle for 30 minutes or something and then drive it like you stole it, but I don't think that is necessary. Pretty sure guys have shown that that method doesn't really help any more than just reconnecting it and driving it for whatever you need to.

Follow these directions/thread and you'll be fine:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=302047

The ECU needs some time to "learn" your new intended driving style. Also be sure you know how to reset your alarm system too. (sometimes its more than just the keyfob button) With most systems, when you reconnect the battery cable the alarm goes off.

However this has nothing to do w/ the popping and gurgling of a cat back exhaust. To solve that, put the resonator back in. I know two people who have done so. (I may be a third...)

I wish my Greddy popped as much as my old Stromung....

Combo of Cobb equal length headers +high flow cat, Greddy catback & 2.5" by 36" long resonator kills about 85% of the boxer sound.....

Chris.

haha

you guys should hear a 3" cat-back with a flow-through muffler on a N/A 2.5L...

need a massage? put one of those on... oh... and the popping... it's great, other people think ur nuts, but it's great...

I actually had a guy come out of a gas station and ask me if I removed my cats... he said his car (I think it was a civic) had cherry-bombs on it and wasn't nearly as loud... I could have died laughing at him...

I've got the stromung and mine pops too, sometimes it'll pop out a 4 foot flame when I rev up with out a load. (cams, 13.2.1 compression pistons, no cats with 110 octane leaded gas)
