Default spline count

I know that the EA series engine/trannys won't mate up to any of the EJ series engines/tranny. My questoin is: with some minor welding and customizing is it possible for the EA series to be adapted to the EJ series. I basically want to know if the spline count of an EJ22 will mate up to an EA series 5 speed tranny w/the 2WD to AWD lever.

I know that Mudrat79 over on the USMB makes a complete kit to adapt an EJ series engine to an EA series tranny.

if using j motor on ea trannies, or vice versa, use the flywheel and pressure plate that goes to the motor and the clutch disc that goes to the tranny
