Default does anyone know if the old RS steering wheel

will fit the new RS? ie, direct bolt on? i'd still like to retain the airbags if possible...

i just cannot stand the plastic steering wheel anymore.

-S- I was going to ask you that too, but I figured since you were looking for one they must be different

Thumbs up

Sunny -- the wheels look the same to me (except with the plastic/leather difference). I don't see why Subaru would change their hub mechanism for the newer models. The WRX Momo wheels look exactly like the older WRX Momo wheels on the old GC8 body style. And your wheel looks like the older OBS, Brighton steering wheels.

LaterZ!
Darren!!

hmm... i don't have any pics of my steeringwheel... i'll try and get one soon.

Darren, when i parked beside vince and checking out each other's cars, we both thought the steeringwheel was a *bit* different. maybe its just the overall effects of the interior playing tricks on our eyes. your right, it wouldn't make sense for them to make new steering wheel when they can pull it right out of their existing parts bin.

I'm with ProgWRX. This must be a Canadian thing. My 2002 RS has a leather-wrapped steering wheel, as did the older models (or so I thought).

Leather wheel, shift knob and e-brake handle. No heated anything (er, except the heater), and no LSD. Kinda wish I had the latter for the rally-cross last weekend Here's some pics of my interior:

You should be able to see the stitching in the wheel and shifter. If it makes you feel any better, my wife drives a 2000 Outback, and there really isn't much difference in feel between the leather and pleastic Otherwise, the wheels are identical.

Hey Jordan, what's the official name of the colour of your car?

Btw, I think the Cdn. '02 RS's steering wheel and shiftknob and e-brake handle feel just fine, but Sunny says his hands get sweaty and wanna "slip" on the wheel... I don't think the leather wheel would make that much of a diff 'cuz the leather's pretty smooth, and it's not really porous enough to soak up the sweat (you'll get a nasty smelling steering wheel after a while... it might smell like hockey gloves. hehehe). Anyway, what do the rest of you think? How can Sunny remedy this "slippery wheel syndrome"?

Oh, btw, it ROCKS to be CANADIAN! Our cars cost less here... amongst other things, of course. hehehe.

FC: if you wanna donate your WRX steering wheel... . my hand already slipped off the steering wheel and the shift knob a few times, so i ended up having to grip both tightly, which is obviously not a good thing. i suppose i can always invest in a pair of driving gloves... except that'll look kinda funny in city driving. leather does help, imo. its not so much about the "feel" as my hand slipping off. at least we got heated mirrors

i wonder if i can get the Audi Sport steering wheel or the Nardi's on the miata...

thx for clarifying the steering wheel issue, btw! (although you didn't help my BP there )
