Question Pulleys

I have been told that unorthodox makes the best underdrive pulleys on the market right now.

How much time lost you can expect on your 1/4 mile times with this pulley? and, has anyone bought the set of pulleys that unorthodox is offering for a limited time? they say that this set can give you from 8 to 15 hp, depending on your mods. The crank pulley alone according to them can give you from 5 to 12 hp.

What do you guys think?

I've found that companies claim HP gains out the wazoo and can't back them up with dyno plots. You'd get maybe 14HP out of an exhaust, intake and pulley combined on a 2.5RS.

THe only thing a pulley will do is reduce the amount of power required to turn the belts. thus "freeing" up power. You might see two tenths off your time at the absolute most by instaling a pulley. More than likely, your track time won't change much at all. But, in combination with other mods, smaller or lightweight pulleys are a good investment.

Check out www.cobbtuning.com and take a look at their pulley's.

If you get a smaller pulley, it's usually one size smaller on the belt. Most good companies will supply you with new belts ... if not, they can tell you which ones to get.

Which other brand sells pulleys for Subaru besides "unorthodox"?

Cobb Tuning: http://www.cobbtuning.com/impreza/engine-pulleys.html
iSR: http://www.autocaresubaru.com/tuning.html

Only two that I can think of at the moment.

I got an UOR Underdrive pully from www.cobbtuning.com I felt a difference! No, seriously! I felt a little better throttle response and a little smooter acceleration. I think it was worth the money! It is even more worth the money if you are planning on buying a lightweight flywheel in the future. This way you will be taking lots of weight off of the drivetrain! As for a 1/4 mile times, I run a 15.152 @ 88.23 MPH with 5Zigen catback, UOR Underdrive pulley, Borla headers, and a PRM Cold air intake!

I got mine from Rev-Lab and this is not an UOR pulley but the quality is top notch and like MBX said in combination with other mods it really is worth the money!

I would recommend getting the underdrive pulley from unorthodox racing. I have it and it was worth every cent...it helps with 3rd gear the most.

my $.02
