Default New Subaru Website

Subaru of America has finally updated their website
www.subaru.com

It's not a total redesign, just a frontpage redesign. It's still much nicer, and hopefully a good indication of where they are heading.

The change was noted a week ago at http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=655195. The site won't be decent until it elimantes all of the FLASH crap.

All web designers should be compelled to do their development over dial up lines. It would eliminate a lot of unnecessary gimickry real quick. Flash is unnecessary gimickry. I am looking for info not glitz when I go to a manufacturers web site - there's glitz aplenty from the sales guys/gals at the dealerships.

I'll agree to the premise that FLASH is a brilliant webdesign tool only when it's NEVER required to view the data/picture.

Another good thing about Flash is that little "Skip Flash" button which is usually included in the better Flash web designs...

The new front page is definitely an improvement over what they had before

But I liked the picture of the WRX that was missing its fog lights.

I like the new front page, I still think they need more and better pictures. I also think the "built" car photo should be nicer and larger. But, it's a good start.

I think SOA just updated their website again. Not bad, nothing drastic though.

Cheers,

Default Odd...

that they updated it without including the '07 models, as some are now hitting the dealers.

Update, no
Rearrange crap, yes

Overall I'd have to say the "new" site is VERY disappointing. As rsholland mentioned there is nothing new on there about the 07s and seriously would it kill them to give a sneak peak at new models and concepts? You can't say that showing future models takes potential sales away from the existing, Toyota has done it for years without issues.

It is funny that the '07 Tribecas and Foresters are already sitting at my favorite dealership, but the website has nothing on them yet. I guess they want to focus on blowing out the '06's first?

Thats more evidence of Subaru just not understanding what it takes to be really successful in this business.
