Question Interior mounts..

Wondering what solutions people have come up with for mounting/chargcing cell phones in their RS.. more specifically the Motorola StarTac line. Haven't found anything that works and looks good yet. Also wondering if anyone has mounted a Palm Pilot in their RS. I know of a guy who's attached his palm to his car for diagnostic readouts, it'd be nice to have a semi-permament mount, like a cradle hacked to fit somewhere on the console..
any idears?

Most good cellular shops can get what is called a "Pro-Fit" mount. They are fancy bent sheetmetal that screws to the factory radio mounts then fits under all the trim pieces giving you a little tab to mount things to next to the radio... You could mount anything you wanted there.

i usually either throw my startac in the passenger footwell attached to the charger or in a spare holster on the sun visor... but you probably take better care of your phone than that

I've got a Nokia 51XX that I got the car kit for. Install was a snap, only two problems. 1) Where to mount the phone, and 2) crimping the coax cable.
I mounted the phone on the passenger's side of the console right next to the shifter. It doesn't get smacked by the glove box, and it's in easy sight/reach for everyone. The cable I paid to have crimped. grr. It limits the forward movement of the passenger's seat by like an inch, but who is going to sit that close anyway? I've got a sedan so getting into the back isn't an issue. I'd recommend checking with Motorola or your service provider. They most likely have mounting kits for your phone.

HRO, Ham Radio Outlet, a Ham supply distributor with mail order & website, has a comprehensive supply of adjustable mounting equipment for handhelds, computers, etc.
Also, good car stereo/phone shops probably carriy a lot of this stuff.

I have a dual cup holder for SOMETHING.... I am the only one in my car about 90% of the time.... so the phone goes nicely there when plugged into the charger (of course it is a Nokia 5160)

Exclamation

"Hang up and Drive" And I don't even want to think about someone trying to operate a Palm on the road...

A Californica patrolman pulled alongside a speeding car on the crowded freeway. Glancing at the car, the officer was astounded to see that the young woman behind the wheel was KNITTING. She was oblivious to his flashing lights and siren, so the trooper turned on his bullhorn and yelled, "PULL OVER!"

"NO," the woman yelled back. "IT'S A SCARF!"
