Thumbs up Event Idea : TSD Rally in Spring

Last year a few of us ran a rally with the Audi club that started up near Lake Geneva, went around the countryside, and ended up at a resteraunt in Lake Geneva. It was an absolute blast and the roads were great.

I was wondering if people would be interested in getting this going again this year. It's about 100 miles through the countryside, lots of fun roads and spots to go fast (not too fast - last year they stopped a group of 10 or so Audi's going 120 to warn them to slow down). Despite the 100 miles and predicted 2 hour trip, we stopped for drinks and bathroom for 10 minutes in the middle and finished in about a hour and a half (figure that average speed ).

But, I've still got the map and the pacenotes, so I expect it to be a piece of cake to set up. Everyone would be encouraged to bring a navigator unless you're following someone you really trust to guide you.

Note: This would be a non-competitive event and you're *supposed* to be following all local laws and speed limits, but it just never happens.

If people are interested, we'll get it going. It's been buzzing around between me and several other guys, one who went, another who missed it, and I just decided to see what type of interest there is and how many people to expect. Of course, all people would be welcome and welcome to bring friends, but there is a $5 entrance to pay for the maps and pace notes, and we just may be able to scrounge up a few things to be raffled off in the end. It should be on a Sunday morning and start aronud about 10-ish.

Please post if you're interested, I want to base the decision off of the interest level everyone shows.

Sounds great. I went on a TSD rally here and except for highway 275 from Lewis Central to Glennwood, it sucked! look left... feilds, look right feilds... straight flat roads, no water... yawn... ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz What huh? Were done? that was easy. 2nd place? ok, that wasn't much of a challenge and the scenery sucked.

I'm sure this will be much, much better.

Day one TSD rally, Day 2 Auto-X followed by an evening Rally-X.

Now that is what a MWSOC should be like.

Maybe we can all just camp on the football feild at the high school that night too! Tell Subie Stories down by the fire!

Thumbs up

I'm down unless I'm racing that particular weekend.

I'll check my racing schedule and hopefully it'll be a different weekend.

If we make it a weekend thing, I can house a couple people from out of town. We can all sit around drink some drinks and play CM2...or go to the bar and "skeezzz" on da honeys...

Trust me, I'll definetly try to work it around around race days. I don't want to miss any autox's this year in TSSCC cause I plan on wreaking havoc on SM.

Count me in (unless work has me out of town that weekend). I can also house a couple people from out of state at my house in Plainfield. Unlike mykrrr I don't think my wife would be up for me taking people out to "skeezzz on da honeys". We could try to have a Sat night meet for the out of towners and BBQ or just kick back and whatever.

Well, I haven't driven an actual TSD rally, so what I was thinking would be more of a pleasure drive (and believe me, the country is damn fun to drive though).

I can't really come up with a date until all the autocross regions come up with their dates for the year (don't want to hold it during a big event now...). Hopefully they'll have their dates up relatively soon though. I'm thinking about around the same time as last time - early to mid April. Last one was April 1st and the weather was clear. I'd really want the weather to be good for this too as a lot of the roads are fast and corners are nice and tight.

Any ideas are still welcome as this is pretty far off. I guarantee that there will be at least 4-6 weeks of notice on the final date.

Oh and about the cash, mainly it is just to pay for the copies of maps and pace notes. It wouldn't be bad to have a raffle/giveaway, but if it's non-competitive then there really wouldn't be a base to give it to anyone, LOL.

Well some of them are little roads dusted with sand or gravel, but mostly it's tarmac farm roads and connecting roads with lots of twisties (they seem to go around the trees rather then cutting them down). Gotta get Kyle to comment on here since he went with and TarmacRS was actually in the Audi club - who is who invited us int he first place, but he hasn't been around for a bit. He'd be able to explain and remember all the roads a lot better then I. I still have to go up there some weekend and make the run again and see how it feels.
