Default Is my laptop dying?

I have a Thinkpad X22 that is acting really weird, pretty suddenly. I have built plenty of desktop PC's, but when it comes to laptops, I'm pretty "green".

As little as a month ago, my battery would last about an hour or so. I noticed yesterday that the battery indicator showed 0% battery life. It will not take a charge either on the dock at work or just another a/c charger at home. The laptop is plugged in most of the time.

As soon as you inplug the laptop, it dies. Does a batttery die like this? I thought they just got weak slowly.

Or is my laptop on its last leg?

Thanks for any input.

If it's a Li-Ion battery, yes they can die like that. I assume you don't have a spare battery to try or you wouldn't be posting this.

yes, batteries do get progressively weaker. It's also really bad to keep your laptop battery in all the time and have it charging. It degrades the life and length the battery will hold charge. The downside to that is, if you live in an area with poor power (ie: there are power spikes and dips) you are exposing your laptop to that unless it's on a UPS. The battery in these instances acts as a capacitor to filter out the uneven incoming power. If you don't have spikes or dips often, don't worry about it. In the end, you're going to need a new battery.

Battery is in route. I have never seen anything like that before.

Thanks for responding.
