Default Wiring Warning 05 OB XT and leg's also probably.

OK yesterday installed an Alpine Nav System in my old man's 05 Outback XT. all went well till we tried to wire it up. he subscribed to techinfo got the manuals, couldnt find the pinout on the radio. wired it up using "standard" radio colors (ie red accessory, yell constant, orange illum.) my wrx was this way no reason to think they'd change it in the leg.. but they did

Red at the radio is constant. not accessory but constant 12v.
I ended up tapping accesory from the lighter, and illumination from the upper dash pocket light that we no longer have since we put the nav there..

just a heads up to peopl make sure you multimeter these things out as I dont want to be responsible if you blow your ride up!

(it was really frustrating so i figured id post it up here)

not yet. ill try to take some it was late when we finally got it straightened out. we bought the Alpine NAV-200 off ebay for 1300 bucks. install wasnt too difficult except for this.

once you remove the bezel, and the pocket up top the screen sits back there very nicely. I fab'd a bracket to give it a little more support.

nav control is in the trunk.
photos to come.
