Default WRX insurance question

I was hoping to get some Colorado WRX owners feedback on auto insurance. I'm looking at getting a wagon, but it seems that even if I can afford the car, I will get bent over on insurance. I'm 25 with a perfect driving record, and the online quotes I've received indicate anywhere from $1800-$3500 a year. (Compared to the $900 a year for the same coverage on my '98 OBS) If anyone has a reccomendation I would appreciate it. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jason

Jansonb,

I'm getting ~$800 a year from Farmers. I'm 29, clean record, married, muti-policy discount (3 cars and house). My wife pays the same for her A4 and she had one speeding ticket two years ago. Our third car, a 240Z is ~$300 a year.
I have a $500 deductible ($100 for glass) on all cars.
The 240z is the only car we have had policy problems on from Farmers. The car is appreciating now and we have to update the value on the policy every few years.

I don't know what to say.

I am FAR from a "perfect" driver. I have had about 3 speeding tickets in the last 3 years and one accident. With USAA I would have been paying about $4k/year just for my 1999 Honda Prelude Type SH. But then I got an online quote with Progressive and they quoted me about 2k/year with same limits/deductible/etc. as USAA so guess what I did =).

WIth the 2002 WRX I pay about $1800/year now. I am 25 years old and also have an 85 Toyota 4x4 pickup on my policy as well.

Just to note my deductible is $1000 and my limits are 50/100/50k.

So I guess I would have to say shop around a little. I remember one thing that made a BIG difference was if you ever lapsed on a payment or went for a period without car insurance or didn't have car insurance in the last 3+ months and were trying to get some from scratch as opposed to just transfering companies.

Well, my WRX insurance is only $650/year, but I am a little older than you guys

Still, I have 2 tickets in 3 years so I am no angel.

Default Insurance

I have 1 tickets in last three years and had a suspended license 4 years ago. My insurance is with American Family and I pay $108/ month ($1296/year). That is with home and multiply car discounts. I have a $500 ded. and the limits are $100K and $300K, which are quite a bit higher than others quotes I got for about the same premium. Every quote I have gotten, the insurance company used rates for a 2.5 RS because they did not have the WRX in the system.

They used 2001 2.5 RS sedan rates for mine too. That and some calculation based on the price of the car since there is no data available for it yet. Anyway, I'm paying about $1000 and year with State Farm, I'm 30 and I have a couple of tickets.

I know I'm in Utah so it may be different, but you may want to try Liberty Mutual, I'm 23, 1 ticket, 1 accident....$1600

Just wanted to say thanks for the input. It seems like there's no single answer, just too many variables. I guess the insurance companies figure a single guy my age has money to throw their direction. I might just have to wait a little longer for my WRX. As I said, thanks for the input.

I think I am getting screwed!!! I shoped around every where for cheap insurance and the one company I found was Omni.

I have full coverage on my 01 RS, 100k/150k/100k. I have three spedding tickets and I just turned 20yrs old and I am paying $1435 every 6 months!!! IS THIS TOO MUCH!!! IS it just because I am so young and have three tickets (which all 3 are 55 in a 50).

Ive shopped around, asking atleast 15 different insurane companies and this is the beast deal.
