Default Burning clutch smell, brand new car

I have a burning smell coming from my brand new 9-2x. It only has 20 miles on it. It smells like the clutch on my old car when I used to go up extremely steep hills. Am I riding the clutch too hard? Or is this normal during the break in period? Thanks all.

Its probably the protective grease coating burning off the engine (I forget what the stuff is called). Cars' mechanicals are coated in it for the long ship-ride over from Japan to protect from corrosion.

I got the same thing on my sti for the first 50 miles or so. I thought I was beating up the clutch, but it went away shortly thereafter. Who knows? Maybe I was beating it up a little until I grew accustomed to it.

It's normal, unless it's a terrible smell, the clutch has never been used before, so it gets a little hammered into operation.

agreed. bad smells are normal. horrid smells and or smoke is not. It should go away in a day or so, depending on how much you drive.
