Default want to run 12s whats the best way to do it?

know people are going to tell me to search and hate on me but i have searched and a lot of times/mod lists seem inconsistant with eachother. so my question is: what should i do to hit in high 12s. i have a helix downpipe on the way, and probably going to get an accessport. oh and i have an 04 so a boost controller is out of the question.

Well if you are sticking with Cobb go stage 2.5 with a vf34 and do as much little things as possible. With good driving you could hit 12's

But really to hit 12's easy you need a big turbo. The accsessPORT does not support the big guys, you need an Utec or something to get there.

Or you could just save some money and do an v7 STi swap and get 12's for cheaper than biulding up an USDM motor.

version 7 swaps are not as expensive as you think. I sold my WRX motor and drivetrain for $3k and ended up doing the swap for $6k out of pocket. As fast as a stage 4, more potential, and I have a sweet tranny to boot. And spec-c-suspension and brembos. Worth the money.

dont get me wrong, i would LOVE the v7 motors 8k redline, ability to hold boost, avcs, and the indestructable 6spd. but he said that a v7 swap was cheaper than getting a 205 in the 12s... far from the truth. it can be done for under 2 grand.

you can get 12's with the stock turbo, no i haven't done it yet but will this spring when the track opens up. so far the mods are utec, helix up and tbe k/n filter, samco i/c hoses, over the winter sti pinks and fuel pump and alky injection will go in as well as a new clutch, and if that don't work then in going a deadbolt 18g and i'm there. oh and since we don't have a shop up here with a awd dyno we have to road tune our cars so i may end up driving her down to the states to get her on a dyno

Only way you're hitting 12's with the AccessPort is with the stage 2.5. Since they are such generic base maps, you'll leave a lot on the table in regard to stock turbo so you'll have to go bigger like the vf34/vf30 to get 12's with the accessport.

I hope to run low 12's ... I'll be running a Cobb DP, Scoobysport the rest of the way, Scoobysport UP, (have all the exhaust items in my garage) and I'm still debating EM ... I'd like to go the AP route, but I have concerns that the Tuner release may be a while yet ... Since I plan to run a conservative tune on a FP-18g, the tuner needs to be released for me, otherwise I'll end up going the UTEC route, not that that's bad, I just like Cobb's stuff ...

low 12's youll need a lot more than you listed there. most importantly, driving skill.
ever been to the track before?

I'm running a VF34, pinks, Stromung DP, STi axle-back, Perrin uppipe, IC hose, and Accessport. I've gone 13.3 @ 101.75. With a full cat-back it might squeeze another tenth or two. Others have gone 12s on setups like mine. I agree there's alot of variance with stage 2.5 cars. That's the nature of off the shelf maps. Once Cobb releases stage 3, there will be alot more VF30/34s in the 12s. Until then, your best bet is probably a dyno tuned ECUtek map or UTEC if you want to go 12s on a smaller turbo.

Quicktime Performance is in the 12s w/ the stock turbo, their headers, cut-out, and their on the juice IIRC. That also have EM, I believe, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Well, other then supporting mods for the turbo upgrade, I don't think it'll need anything more ... As far as driving skill goes, I can pull 1.9's for the 60', and run high 13.8-13.9's for the quarter ... It's still pretty much stock BTW ... So yes, I have been to the track before, but thanks for asking ... And honestly, with a FP-18g (+ support stuff of course) mid-low 12's should be attainable ... Low might be a stretch, but you gotta shoot for something ...
