Actual meet time
For all the folks staying in Robinsville at the Microtel, lets meet in the lobby/outside around 9:30am... From there we can drive to the base of the dragon (intersection of HWY-28 & 129) and meet everyone else that may be coming from other places at the "Dragon gas station"... We can probably make one or two runs through the dragon together then move on to something else. I know I am wanting to find some more really cool roads up there.

Does this work for everyone??

edit: For all those that have FRS Radios, the Channel of choice this weekend will be Channel 6... For those that have a cell phone (and have never been to the Dragon before) don't expect to EVER have a signal ...Again, I will be in a Black Volkswagen Jetta TDI (yes, it's a diesel) so if ya spot me, use the FRS and "holla"

Actually, cell phone coverage depends on who you've got. My Cingular phones have worked before without a problem, but GSM/GPRS phones may have trouble, I haven't been out there since I got a new phone a few months ago.

Phones will probably work in Robbinsville, but other areas will be sketchy at best.

9:30am Saturday should work. I'll have the TS with gold wheels and a Florida plate.

Just a note of interest from tailofthedragon.com:

This is especially important for those coming up from Atlanta.

No worries, I'm planning on driving at or below the speed limit the whole way. Nothing spoils a vacation more than a big fat speeding fine.

Or a parking ticket. Happened to 4 or 5 of us last year around this time.

Yeah, but I think enforcement will be minimal this weekend and as long as we don't create too much attention. Most of the time I see police between Asheville and Sylva more than anywhere else.

Graham County does have a sheriff's Camaro though.

It was out patrolling during the big meet this year. I passed it at about mach .13 at one point. Luckily he didn't turn around.

My car is kinda bumpy below 80..... if you stick to it around 100 or so though its smoother sailing.... LOL

so for us not staying at the Microtel hotel, we will meet you at the Crossroads (Dragon gas station where 28, and 129 come together) between 9:30-10. THen we can make some runs. I too am interested in checking out new roads. I would like to try the Cherohala, and maybe that cool gravel road people did back in June.

Ofcourse, this all depends on if I get my car tomorrow. The wheels are on schedule for delivery tomorrow.

Yep... That is where I will be at and am hoping that I can find all the people in Robinsville and get them there between 9:30 and 10:00... If we are a few minutes late try not to be too critical ... I'll probably go along the Cherohola again and visit the point where I had my accident back in June... Like I said before, I'll have my video camera. It is a "miniDV" recorder so if any of you want recordings of runs through the Dragon, stop and pick up a tape and then let me ride shotgun with ya and ya will have your own copy of the Dragon

See everyone up there on Friday (definitly saturday morning)
I'm leaving Beaufort, SC for "The G-Spot" right now.... I know it's 1:30 in the morning!!!

I plan on being at the crossroads right about that time (9:15A). I will be meeting up with some local folks at about 7:45 and head that way

Question

Hey Guys,

I will not be able to meet ya'll that early. My Dad is letting me borrow his V1 and an FRS radio. Will I be able to reach you on the FRS if I cant see you?

I know they dont have great range, right? A mile or 2.

Maybe someone can PM me a cell or vice versa.

I really hope I can make it.

I was waiting to post but alas I cannot make it this weekend.

I really wanted to bring the new RS but the front L bearing is getting pretty bad.

I have some knuckles coming next week so she'll be ready to go by next weekend I hope.

As of right now, I don't think I will be going. If I get a small chance though, I will do my best to make it.
