well first - what location is the seller at.
same as you?
Then contact seller, say you're interested in purchasing it. can you take alook at it.
See if you can look at the car it came off of or if the part is brand new.

if it's yours, call the cops, or just the mafia. =P

- win the auction to get contact info (ie. to see if you can pick up the part)
- report to eBay
- re-contact police

i hope everything works out

there are no bidders on the item and it ends in 9 hours. you will probably get him emailing you to hope he can get it off his hands...
if there's no winner, say you'll take a look at it and if it's in perfect condition, you'll make an offer. =)

hmmm... i can only imagine what i'd do if i found a person that stole my car...

are you from: Item location: Maple Shade, New Jersey
United States.???
if so, make sure noone else on here bids on it. (if noone has till this point tho, i think you're in OK shape to play my previous suggested plan).

Otherwise, chalk it up to insurance. you had full coverage, right?

i'm not gonna email the guy. will let you be the only one so he doesn't hold out hope that he can sell it to someone non-local and play it safe.

keep us updated on what happens.

email ebay authorities like ^^^^^^ said.
call cops if you're convinced...

If you have insurance... file it anyhow, then take the guy out and take your exhaust and car back... oh wait... can't do that, that'd be insurance fraud.

just a thought, auto speed is based out of NJ there's a lot of people around here running them. i doubt someone stole your car, shipped the exhaust to NJ to sell it on ebay

I doubt that is your exhaust. I dont think it would cost effective even for a theif to mail an exhaust cross country to sell it, and I doubt the paid the gas to drive your car to NJ, and I doubt they shipped your car to NJ, and it got there in 3 days.

Unless the location is fake.

But we will find out cause I emailed him, im in NJ, and asked if I can come look at it, and if he would sell it off ebay

well now i just sound like an *******... but this still concerns me. if someone really wanted to make some decent money you would not have a 3 day auction... right? and the dude has 0 feedback...

It seems like you could report this to someone higher than the police. When Citibank's site was unsecure, I contacted the local fbi and they were right on it. Maybe you could find somthing as far as listing stolen parts on a profitable website.

So, what, someone in CA stole your car, stripped it, shipped the part to NJ and put it up for auction on Ebay in two days?

Um, I don't think so.

Sorry, but I think you're grabbing at straws. Unless you can describe an identifying mark, even if it's just a scratch, that is unique to your exhaust and that appears on that exhaust, your pishing in the wind.

In the meantime, you're probably going to put some innocent seller through the ringer because of your far flung theory.

EDIT: Just read McDade's post. You're a good dude!

EDIT: Should also say, sorry about your car. I'm sure it's really upsetting.

My friend had his Audi S4 rims stolen out of his garage. He then saw them on ebay. How did he know it was them? He supersized the pic and saw the curb rash he had. He called the police and the guy was arrested, and they found a bunch of other stolen car stuff at his house. Anyway, the guy's location on ebay was NOT his real location.

Yeah, I sell tons of things on ebay. Sometimes I sell parts for my friends from across the country. And they ship out from there as well. New Jersey is just were he chose to set up his account from. Maybe he moved or something. Also about stripped the car and getting it to New Jersey in 3 days, well sometimes I put something on ebay and I dont have it yet. The auctions are usually 3-7 days long, so by the time my item is in, I am getting ready to accept payment for it. Could be the same logic here.
