Unhappy Tranny will not shift after clutch install

Ok guys I have a major problem and Ive been searching on here for the last hour to see if I could find anything out, but no luck. Heres the story, My clutch started to go out so I took it to a shop to get replaced along with another used stock tranny (mine had grinding issues) I bought the stocker tranny from a junk yard and he assured me there was nothing wrong with it, he actally drove it before parting out the car. anyway The shop I took it to took out the tranny installed the clutch flywheel and put in the tranny and the tranny is STUCK in neutral. They never turned the car on or anything, it still has the exhaust off and basically its still on the lift. They just wanted to make sure everything was ok before they went ahead to put it all back togeather. They didnt put any gear oil in either yet, they said it doesnt need oil to be able to shift through gears the way it is, I thought differntly. So what do you guys thing could be the problem??? I know the throwout bearing was attached to the clutch when I gave it to them Im not sure if that needed to be taken off and put on the tranny before puttin on the clutch. Im not sure if they took it off and put it on the tranny first or not. Would that cause the problem? I really dont know anything at all about clutches and trannys so any help would be greatly apresated. Thank you

Sounds liike the clutch isn't working at all. If its hydraulic, check to see if anything happens under the hood when you push the pedal down.

No, you don't need any oil to see if it works. Just don't run it that way.

Year? model? And what year/ model tranny did you get?

I think they assembled your linkage incorrectly. There is a plate that goes on one of the bolts, if you put it on backwards it can get in the way of shifting. Have them look at that first before they drop the tranny again.

It goes on the fulcrum arm(not it's official name). Maybe this is just an rs piece. I do know that if you put it on backwards it won't shift into a couple gears because it has a tab on it that will interfere with the other arm. The other arm goes to a u-joint that is connected to the shift rod. It does'nt go into any gear at all even when the car is'nt running? Does the shifter move and it does'nt go in gear? Or does the shifter not move? How about back and forth as if to shift into a different gate?

The only thing I can think of is I wonder how possible it would be to dislodge the shift rod. It would cost two gaskets and you'd have to pull the tail and center sections to find out(a couple bolts). Someone else may have a better idea so maybe wait a bit.

Sorry if no help.
