Default jdm sti v8 power delivery comparable to evo 8?

I contemplating the v8 engine swap in to gc8. I never had a chance to drive a jdm sti and wonder what would that experience be comparable to. It certainly be more laggy but more powerful than usdm wrx. I wonder if it would be comparable to evo8 since both use 2.0L twin scroll turbo and have similar output around 280 hp(even though gearing is a bit different that gc8).
Do you think the evo would give the best idea of what the converted car would behave like? Thanks.

the evo8 turbo is a little bigger but the sti can go 1000 more rpms

both are twinscroll btw. I cant comment on the evo8 becuase i have never rode in one, but i just put a downpipe on my ver8 twinscroll engine and it RIPS now !

sti ver 8 is should be much faster than an Evo. The evo here is a bonafide 276 hp because of a US law that all cars should be watered down. In japan, stis (and evos) are underrated, and the version 8 probably has 310 hp. Maybe the evo I drove was a bad one, but it wasn't much faster than my stage 2 WRX. The USDM sti is faster than the evo, I know from experience my version 7 is faster than a USDM sti, and logic would dictate that a versino 8 is probably a smidge faster than me. Add that up and sti 8 > evo 8, especially in your light RS compared to my pig of a car.

Wait a minute? I thought the jdm sti are rated at 280 hp, how do you know it's actually over 300 hp... that'd be awesome BTW
ANd how can the gc8 5mt able to handle that power? (That's what I wast told)

Man..., I studied these posts for hours and I still don't know $hit about the jdm sti engines.

Gentleman's Agreement as its called... you never noticed that every high powered car there was rated at 280?

If you're nice to your RS tranny, it will hold for a bit but, I'd go with the 6spd.

all horepower rating in japan were restricted to 276 hp only on paper, a lot of the cars had way more power but they still stated that it only had 276hp.

as for the tranny
i know that the 5mt for the gc8 can handle the usdm wrx engine, but someone might be able to give you a number

JDM STi>USDM WRX... JDM STi V7 or V8 will eat through the clutch if you do anything but drive it like a grandma... seen it happen.

JDM STi v7 motors have been tested on a dyno to do about 310 crank hp with the proper octane. (100+) This is due to the fast learning and aggressive ecu. On 93 pump it probably is around 280hp. Mike shields got this data.
