Default Piston Slap Quesiton

Just out of curiosity how did any of you that have experienced piston slap diagnose your problem. Does the car drive differently or can you hear a noise. My car recently started making a clicking or pinging noise repitiously(sp) at all RPM's. Trying to figure out what the heck it is.

Default Miles

How many miles do you have? If you have under 60000 take it in now! Piston slap is covered under your powertrain warranty. It sounds like thats what you have. I just extended my warranty for 4 years 48000 miles. It cost $1000 but now I can drive as hard as I want four for more years. Certain mods will void the warranty, such as internal changes. Go to subaru.com and look at what they offer.

Crap! I was just at the dealer and asked them to look at it and they said they didn't find anything. I'm at 62000 but I bought an extended warranty to 100k. Can I go into the dealer and specifically ask them to look at that, seems to me that they're probably trying to get out of fixing it. Any tips for how I should handle it would be appreciated.

Default I would

I would take it in but they might keep giving you the run around. Subaru's website has great customer service. They are in constant contact with their service and sales departments. I would email them with the problem and see what they say. They know there are some problems with piston slap, so I would address that problem to them. The fix for piston slap is new heads not a whole engine.
