Default Timing Belts and Check Engine Light

Hello,

I just found this site and thought I would post a question. I have a 1992 loyale wagon that I just change the oil pump in, when putting the timing belts back on I missed a tooth on the driver side. I didn't know that I skip a tooth until I was driving home from work with a little less power then usual. I took the timing cover off and notice the problem, after I adjusted the belts so everything lined up and I thought that my problem was over. Today driving Home from work the check engine light came on, so does anybody know what the relationship between my check engine light and the recent repair.

Thank for your help

Why don't you scan your car and get the code? Actualy being pre 95 your car should have a way to flash the code to you. If you have a manual that tells you how, see what tripped the cel. If your not really interested in finding out why just pull the battery cable for 10min and reset the ecu. It shouldn't come back on, if it does you have a problem.

Thanks for the help. The code it flashed was 34 (EGR Solenoid or Circuit), I checked the EGR valve and it seems to working, so I will replace the solenoid and see if that fixes the problem.

Ya odds usually are its the solenoid. They are like $74 or so from the dealer.
