Default When replacing headlight bulbs in a 2004

Is it necessary to completely remove the battery on the drivers side?

When I remove the battery, if I have to, must I worry about the security system/remote door lock feature not working?
I've had security systems that needed to be reset if the power was disconnected.

Newbie question here, I searched.

Thanks!

No, you do not have to remove the battery to replace a headlight bulb. Just put your hands down there and twist and turn it out. If you take the battery out you would have to reprogram the remotes to your car. To reprogram you get in the car turn the key to the on and off position 10 times the last time leaving it on, you'll here the horn sound. Open the door and close the door, hit button on remote.(repeat open and close door for each additional remote).

Thanks,
Tommy

I have disconnected my battery many times to reset the ecu, for a half hour at a time, and never had to reprogram my remotes. I also had the battery disconnected all day while installing the stereo and amp. What is the difference between disconnecting the battery and removing it? That is bull, you don't have to reprogram if you remove the battery.

I just replaced the bulbs in my '05 wrx. I disconnected the battery and removed it. It's just a lot easier to see what your doing when replacing the bulbs. I reinstalled it and I did not have to reprogram the remotes.

It's not all cars that loose there memory. I just let him know just incase it did. I've disconected my battery for long periods of time and never had a problem.
